Position Summary:
The Electronics Restoration Technician is responsible for the inspection, testing, cleaning, and restoration of electronic devices and appliances affected by fire, smoke, water, or environmental exposure. This role requires a methodical approach, problem-solving skills, and comfort working with a wide range of devices--from televisions and computers to home theater and household electronics. Work will take place both in-house and on-site at customer properties, requiring strong communication and organizational skills.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
On-Site:
Communicate professionally with customers to explain the restoration process and answer questions
Assist with or lead the mapping, labeling, and removal of electronic devices during pack-out
Document how items are connected (especially computer systems and home theaters) for accurate reconnection
Direct less-technical team members during pickups and reconnections, ensuring efficiency and customer satisfaction
Reinstall and reconnect items during pack-back, verifying functionality and addressing any issues
In-House:
Test and validate the functionality of a wide range of electronics, including appliances, TVs, computers, and AV equipment
Clean and restore electronics using approved methods and tools
Determine repairability vs. replacement based on condition and testing results
Perform final testing to ensure items are fully operational before return
Maintain accurate documentation of all testing, repair actions, and results in accordance with company standards
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities):
Strong mechanical and technical aptitude; must be comfortable disassembling and reassembling electronic devices
Problem-solving mindset and attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple items and prioritize workflow efficiently
Professional appearance and customer service skills
Knowledge of electronics repair, home theater setup, computer systems, and devices
Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 75 lbs
Ability to drive is critical. (ability to drive a truck and trailer is a plus)
Education & Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Minimum of 2 years of experience in electronics, appliance, or computer repair (professional or hobby-related)
Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record and reliable transportation
Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, criminal record check
