Your Opportunity:

Under limited supervision, performs a full range of journeyman level Electrician duties utilizing considerable initiative and judgment and in accordance with blueprints, diagrams, electrical, fire, life safety and building codes, regulations, and department policy. Representative duties include monitoring, testing, trouble shooting, documenting, analyzing performance, installing, repairing, maintaining, and servicing electrical, and related equipment including associated distribution and control systems. Recommends and implements preventive maintenance schedules, assists in design or relocation of systems for renovations and construction, coordinating and assigning the work of non-journeyman assistants, preparing feasibility and cost estimates and reports, and requisitioning or ordering supplies. Maintaining, commissioning, monitoring, trouble shooting, analyzing performance, and repairing of electrical equipment and systems including essential power systems, power distribution, fire monitoring and alarm, call bells, security, lighting, high/low voltage, critical uninterpretable power supply, food service and housekeeping equipment, surgical processing equipment, vfd's, medical equipment HVAC equipment, and programmable logic controllers. Recommends the design of the above systems on new projects and the replacement, modification, and major repair of existing systems. Installs electrical systems, fixtures, plugs, telephone and computer lines, electrical components, and equipment as required. Inspects new construction and renovations projects. Completes preventive maintenance including checking and recording new equipment as per standards, tests, and services existing equipment (generators, breakers, transfer switches, transformers, UPS, etc). Description:

As an Electrician you will work in accordance with the accepted codes, standards, regulations and procedures. Under minimal supervision, the electrician performs a variety of highly skilled electrical maintenance and repairs of a complex nature requiring use of schematics, blue prints and specialized test equipment.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Journeyperson Electrician Certificate with Red Seal from Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training. Must hold a valid Class 5 Alberta Operator's Licence. Additional Required Qualifications:

First class Journeyman Electrician's Certificate for the Province of Alberta, Government Fire Alarm Certificate. Seasoned/Specialized technical/professional experience (i.e. 5-7 years) required. Due to the complexity and interrelationships of the various critical electrical and mechanical systems, this results in the potential for significant disruption to the operation of the hospital if an error is made during a maintenance procedure on some of the systems. Ability to troubleshoot and analyze electrical system and equipment problems. Very good verbal and written communication skills. Must be reliable, cooperative, and capable of working independently. Must possess initiative and be capable of giving direction and supervision as required. Must be familiar with a variety of electrical systems and equipment used in the maintenance program. Ability to work under emergency conditions and in difficult situations. Alert for occupational hazards of working with electrical power systems. Must be thoroughly familiar with all tools and equipment used in the trade and knowledgeable of the electrical code and all safety regulations. Preferred Qualifications:
