Basic Function To repair, maintain and install electrical and electronic services, components and equipment, both production and facility in accordance with the Ontario Hydro Electrical Safety Code. Responsibilities The incumbent will be responsible for performing some or all of the duties outlined below:
Install, repair, and maintain electrical conduit, fittings, wiring and other control devices using a wide range of hand and power tools such as pipe threading and pipe bending equipment, hole saws, hole punches, drills, taps and dies, and electrical measuring instruments such as voltmeters, ammeters, ohmmeters, voltage/current recording devices, oscilloscopes and other electrical metering and testing equipment.
Troubleshoot, repair, and modify existing production and service equipment in accordance with the Ontario Hydro Electrical Safety Code.
Build/maintain electrical AC/DC equipment and devices using electrical and electronic components.
Install, modify, repair, and maintain programmable logic controllers. This includes the ability to troubleshoot the equipment, make required minor programming changes and modifications as required. Understanding of PC and their interaction with these systems is a must.
Install and maintain motors, motor controls and overload protection devices using proper prescribed wire sizes, conduit, and overload protection on two and three wire systems according to the Ontario Hydro Electrical Safety Code.
Ensure calibration of production equipment using internal and external resources.
Obtain data, specify, and select parts and components and initiate purchase requirements relating to the repairs and maintenance function of electrical control equipment by consulting handbooks, blueprints, wiring diagrams, catalogues, brochures and schematics.
Update schematics to record modifications to equipment as required.
Perform preventive maintenance inspections and take steps to repair and rebuild electrical components of machinery and production equipment.
Be mechanically inclined and be able to incorporate own ideas and those of others into practical solutions.
Communicate effectively with team leaders, group leaders, tradespeople and the set-up group in problem solving and troubleshooting discussions.
Observe safety rules.
Keep a neat and tidy work area
Requirements/Qualifications
\xc2\xb7Grade 12, and licensed electrician ticket and/or diploma in Electrical or electronic Technology/Technician /Electro mechanical.
Licensed electrician ticket preferred
Ontario Electrical Construction and Maintenance License with industrial maintenance experience.
Be fully familiar with proper and up to date wiring practices and repair methods.
Be fully familiar with the Ontario Hydro Electrical Safety Code.
Experience with electrical controls an asset
Experience with variable frequency drives an asset
Experience with high-speed packaging equipment an asset
Maintenance experience an asset
Basic computer skills required
Overtime, on-call basis is required.
Wage range will be negoitibale based on experience.
