This position is responsible for installing, maintaining and repairing the site electrical power generation & distribution systems equipment in a safe, functional, reliable condition and provide customer service to the maintenance planning functions. The ideal candidate is one who is committed to safe working practices and strives for zero harm.
Key responsibilities:

  • Work with team to conduct job risk assessments and safe work plans ahead of the work being completed;
  • Complete training on electrical safety (Arc flash & Shock) as per site's Electrical Safety Program training;
  • Understand and apply the information on detailed Arc Flash & Shock Equipment Labels, Results Tables or Work Orders to determine additional protective measures to reduce risk;
  • Provide timely response to critical equipment breakdown;
  • Participate in safety audits, reviewing operating procedures and meetings, maintaining meaningful contribution;
  • Ensure workplace housekeeping standards are maintained according to company standards;
  • Complete timely inspections, testing, and accurate reporting of electrical defects/deficiencies;
  • Conducts timely maintenance, services, and quality repair of equipment;
  • Provide input to supervisor for planned and scheduled work and assist to complete on schedule;
  • Assist in scoping and planning out new work;
  • Record clear and detailed information and hours worked on work orders;
  • Install electrical equipment as per trade code and industry design specification requirements;
  • Complete quality assurance and build documentation when required; and
  • Report hazard observations and near hits, and assist with incident investigations and follow-up work
Reporting to the Electrical and Instrumentation Supervisor, the role is based within the Engineering and Site Services department. This is a site based position with a 2 weeks in, 2 weeks out rotation.
Qualifications
  • Valid Journeyperson certification in Electrical
  • Minimum five years' experience in an industrial setting which includes MV, LV electrical installations, troubleshooting problems and electrical-related work
  • Knowledge of Canadian Electrical Code, CSA Z462 Workplace Electrical Safety, CSA Z463 Maintenance of Electrical Systems and M421 Use of electricity in Mines
  • Ability to read and decipher complex electrical drawing and prints
  • Ability to operate within MS Office and SAP environment
  • Ability to build productive working relationships with all department on site
  • Ability to communicate and approach work in a professional and effective manner
