Due to sustained growth we are currently looking for an Electrical Panel Assembler to join our team at our Newmarket facility.

Primary Responsibilities:



Competently read and interpret electrical schematics, technical datasheets, cable schedules, and Bills of Materials.

Competently read and interpret pneumatic schematics - solenoid valves, actuators and pneumatic sensing devices, industrial fittings, tubing.

Competently read and interpret mechanical drawings, layout specifications for fabrication and modifications on metal, plastic, and fiberglass enclosures.

Mechanical assembly of Panels and sub-assemblies - including layout, drilling, tapping, cut-outs, and labeling a multitude of junction boxes and industrial machine control panels. Modify electrical enclosures to specification.

Use tools to fabricate and wire panels including measuring tools, drills, taps, screwdrivers, band saws, jigsaw, etc.,

Mounting of components to back panels and enclosures with proper labels including fuses, circuit breakers, transformers, relays, contactors, terminals, input/output devices, VFD's, PLC's, pilot lights, pushbuttons, selector switches, and operator interface devices and or all related industrial control devices.

Able to systematically start-up, test, commission fluid power equipment / systems on production floor

Able to set pressures, flows, troubleshoot during start-up

Understand the mechanics of the machines being worked on

Set up, adjust, and operate all basic equipment Determine wire routing, cut lengths, and insulation strip lengths. Methodically and meticulously route wires, and interconnect electrical components as per schematic, following strict methods and procedures.

Select correct wire type, gauge, color based upon drawings and documentation.

Wiring of 120VAC/480VAC-3P/600VAC-3P/24VDC electrical components and cable assemblies as per application US and Canadian Electrical codes and standards.

Route, bend, cut, and form wire cable and conduit (EMT, Rigid, liquid-tight) to connect panels and subassemblies.

Electrical installation of control panels and related equipment including cables, harnesses, and motors on stand-alone machines and conveyor lines. Machine power-up, commissioning, and troubleshooting.

Ensure proper protective equipment is always worn and proper tools used based on the task. Maintain a safe and tidy work area. Follow safety rules and create a safe culture.

Perform quality inspections for wiring accuracy, correct component selection. Basic electrical/controls troubleshooting using multi-meters. Inspect all electrical components to find defects before mount/install. Test the panels and adjust based on the results.

Perform all duties in accordance with all company policies, procedures, and standards for quality.

Operate standard electrical assembly tools and basic shop equipment.

Ensure electrical build compliance with NEC, UL, and CE standards.

Assist with packing/shipping/receiving and other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Record job number and time activity through computer stations.

Requirements:



Have a minimum 2-5 years of experience in the assembly of automated equipment, and electrical panel building, OR a recent graduate of a related post-secondary diploma (Electrical technician, Electro-Mechanical technician, Industrial automation, etc.)

Supply own basic hand tools (wrench set, wire strippers, ferrule crimper, screwdrivers, etc.)

Be familiar with industrial automation, standard electrical assembly practices, and be trained in electrical safety procedures.

Be familiar with all the phases of panel building until the customer hand over.

Be a self-driven and ambitious personality with strong attention to detail.

Be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Be familiar with VFDs, PLCs, and DC drives design and start-up work is a plus, but not required. Understanding of standard components functions and connection points including terminal blocks, ground blocks, fuses, circuit breakers, switches, connectors, relays, PLCs, thermal products, controllers, and other components used within control panels.

Be skilled in troubleshooting techniques and have a complete understanding of electrical testing equipment.

Thorough understanding of fluid power & pneumatic principles including the ability to troubleshoot systems

Possess exceptional interpersonal skills, good communication skills, and the ability to follow written and verbal instruction.

Be dedicated and available to put in extra effort when project schedules and customer needs require it, such as overtime in short notice.

Communicate part needs with Panel Shop Supervisor/Designer to ensure outages are avoided.

Communicate with engineering staff regarding build issues and timelines. Discuss errors in diagrams or panel with a supervisor or engineer to clarify assembly problem. Communicates appropriate issues with Electrical Team immediately.

Co-ordinate, interact, and work collaboratively with other team members, vendors, and the client at site.

Be able to work independently and cooperatively with others with some supervision.

Possess basic PC experience including Outlook, Word, Excel, Chrome, and AutoCAD. Be able to print drawings.

*Allen Bradley PLC IO hardware install/wiring familiarity is an asset.

*Festo/SMC Pneumatic Component knowledge/experience is considered an asset.

*Electrical license 309A/442

*Experience with Underwriters Laboratory and UL 508A industrial panel building experience is a plus.
