SciCan Ltd. is a global leader in the development, manufacture and sale of consumables and small-size equipment for dental treatment applications. We currently have an opening within our Research & Development team for an Electrical Hardware Developer.

Job Summary:



Design and development of new products, accessories and spare parts, and engineering support of current products.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:



The Electrical/Hardware Developer is responsible for: Design and/or specify new parts, components, or assemblies for use in new or current products Design and develop hardware for new products Schematic and PCB design using Altium Designer (Small Signal Analog, Digital Domain MCU, DDRx, USB, ETHERNET, WIFI etc) ?FPGA design Design for EMC compliance System design Detailed analog and digital circuitry design Board bring-up support Design for compliance for Medical Device related standards Hardware/Software validation during the initial phases of design Hardware/Software integration Practical skills, able to work in a laboratory environment Experience with various types of sensors: accelerometers, video, infrared, proximity, temperature Experience with various data communication standards and protocols: ZigBee, 802.15.4, USB, RS232/422/485, I2C, CAN, 1-Wire, RFID Documentation for new product designs or design changes: Create software and/or hardware requirements Create software and/or hardware design documents Create software and/or hardware verification and validation plans. Prepare design documents according to FDA guidance documents or applicable standards Prepare documentation for UL/CSA approvals Change design of existing parts to improve manufacturability or reduce cost. Process Engineering Change Requests, Engineering Test Requests, Research and Development Requests and Engineering Change Orders according to established procedures. Qualification of new parts for use in production (testing of samples, verification and validation). Design of experiments, write test protocols, conduct tests and report results. Sourcing and qualification of vendors for new part designs (and current product parts where applicable). Participation in design reviews for new parts and products when required. Preparing documentation for patent applications. Produce reports to communicate design goals, achievements or significant results to persons within or external to SciCan R&D. Lead a team or other group in the performance of an assigned task/project as required from time to time. When in a project leadership role, monitor the performance of team members, and both provide feedback to the managers of those team members regarding the strengths and areas for improvement of the individuals and provide coaching to enhance the individual's contribution to the team. Lead by example, seek to understand the unique motivators of others (e.g. team members), and appropriately recognize and reward contributions; demonstrate commitment to achieving success; and remain positive and constructive about people and the work at hand Establish appropriate mechanisms to track and control the financial aspects of a project or work program, purchases, and expenses; manage subcontractor/consultant performance with respect to schedule, cost and performance; identify potential risks (e.g. as part of a project plan) and regularly assess the potential for new risks. Ensure that the appropriate safety apparel will be utilized when working within the Production, Warehousing, Service, Lab and Machine Shop areas. These to include, but not limited to: Safety Shoes Eye / Face Protection Gloves Supports lab housekeeping and equipment safety practices

Education



B.Sc. Electrical Engineering or equivalent Degree

Minimum 5 years of experience
