IOC is interested in hiring EETs to prepare for future Electrical Needs. Candidates hired into this development pool will learn business process and get mentorship while working towards their Journeyperson certification as Maintainer/Operators. These candidates will need to be highly motivated, adapt to changing situations and priorities, interact well with others and demonstrate the ability to both work independently and to contribute effectively within a team to ensure optimal equipment reliability and availability. The work schedule can include shifts up to 12 hours, night shift, and weekends.

What the role entails




Reporting to the

Maintenance Supervisor

and working in an exciting and unique environment within the Iron Ore Company of Canada, you will be:

Ensure that maintenance activities are safely carried out in a safe and efficient manner Work safely through appropriate behaviours and adherence to IOC safety standards Keep work area safe, clean, and well maintained. Take timely action to correct unsafe work conditions in the work area. Be responsible for the proper operation, maintenance, and control of equipment to ensure production targets are achieved safely and efficiently. Communicate all unresolved safety and process deficiencies to the supervisors involved. Maintain a continuous improvement focus by developing and participating in implementation of appropriate solutions to eliminate the issues/problems identified in the work area. Challenge the way the work is done.

About you



A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team Electrical Engineering Technologist Certification (3 year program) Valid Class 5 driver's license High school graduation or equivalent Excellent troubleshooting skills in an industrial setting A highly flexible approach to work Good collaboration, communication, and approach to teamwork Contributions to improvement ideas and solutions in the workplace We actively encourage applications from women and Indigenous Peoples for this opportunity

If you are selected and accept an Electrical position at IOC please note that you would need to undergo a PLAR (Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition) to identify where you would sit in the Newfoundland and Labrador Industrial Journeyperson program if you are not a certified Industrial Electrical Journeyperson (Red Seal) with the province. The assessment would be taken on by the Government Apprenticeship Office once you started work at IOC.

We are a leading North American producer and exporter of premium iron ore pellets and high-grade concentrate with average iron grades greater than 66%. With a team of over 2,700 employees, IOC is committed to providing value and continuity for our customers, employees, communities and shareholders through our unique mine to port approach, taking advantage of our full integration and wholly owned infrastructure to deliver our high-quality concentrate and pellets to our customers across the globe.


IOC's operations include a mine with five operational pits, a concentrator and a pelletizing plant located near Labrador City in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. We also operate a wholly owned 418 km railway, the Quebec North Shore and Labrador Railway (QNS&L), that links our Labrador operations to Company-owned port facilities in Sept-Iles.
