Advise Authority staff on NERC, NPCC, and FERC compliance requirements, best practices, and risk mitigation strategies.
Develop, review, and enhance compliance documentation, including Reliability Standard Audit Worksheets (RSAWs), internal controls, policies, and job aids.
Support self-certifications, data submissions, and preparation for NPCC and NERC compliance engagements.
Engineering & Technical Expertise
Provide engineering and operational expertise to strengthen compliance processes and technical documentation.
Conduct internal assessments and technical verifications of compliance study reports.
Identify and address potential failure points, process gaps, and risks associated with emerging technologies and renewable integration.
Audit & Investigation Support
Lead pre-audit preparation, on-site audit participation, and post-audit remediation activities.
Support investigations of potential noncompliance, including root cause analysis and development of mitigation plans.
Draft and review self-reports and mitigation plans for confirmed noncompliance issues.
Risk Management & Program Sustainability
Inform industry best practices in risk management, internal controls, and compliance program sustainability.
Review and recommend improvements to governance, oversight, and compliance monitoring functions.
Assist in developing training materials and delivering compliance training programs.
Qualifications
Required:
Licensed
Professional Engineer (P.E.) in California
]
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or related field.
7+ years of experience in utility operations, transmission/distribution, or generation.
Strong working knowledge of
NERC Reliability Standards, NPCC Directories, and FERC Orders
.
Experience preparing for or participating in NERC/NPCC compliance audits.
Preferred:
Master's degree in Power Systems or Regulatory Compliance.
Experience with renewable integration, emerging technologies, and grid modernization.
Prior consulting experience supporting utility compliance programs.
