Job Description


Our business is thriving, and we are looking for our next colleague with whom we will share the pleasure working at Mid-South Engineering, a division of Wood Technologies International, based in Richmond, BC. We are looking for a natural leader who, as an Electrical Engineer, will be responsible for the oversight of projects of different size and complexity, from small equipment upgrade to large greenfield projects.

At Mid-South, we provide our clients with engineering, design, and consulting services. We are in the building products industry, wood processing facilities, and diverse heavy industrial manufacturing facilities.

If you got this (or most of it!) ...

  • Bachelor\'s degree in Electrical Engineering from accredited program
  • Minimum 5 years related experience
  • Professional Engineer registration (or eligible)
  • Experience working in heavy industrial environments required.
  • Strong technical knowledge of power distribution, electrical rooms, MCCs, VFDs, transmission, and heavy industrial power systems.
  • Experience with P&IDs, PFDs, and specifying equipment required.
  • Familiar with the engineering and design process and project delivery for capital projects. This includes front end engineering, cost estimates, gated reviews, detailed engineering, and construction support.
  • Experience in brown field and green field type work.
  • Proficiency with National Electrical Code
  • Experience with AutoCAD and MS Office
  • Must be comfortable being client-facing and maintaining effective communication with project team members and with the customer.

  • Discipline support of preparation of proposals and scope development
  • Engineering, designing and technical work to support delivery of small to large heavy industrial projects.
  • Project delivery includes all project phases from concept through start-up including support of construction and commissioning activities.
  • Calculations, studies and reports (grounding, lighting protection, load studies, arc flash, etc.)
  • Equipment specifications for procurement
  • Coordination of design activities with other disciplines (Civil/Structural, Mechanical, etc.)
  • Provide supervision, training and mentoring to less experienced engineers and team members to ensure production of quality engineering deliverables consistent with project proposal, standards and safety requirements.
  • Regularly meet and correspond with clients or outside personnel
  • Provide short term field support during construction
  • Power Distribution design and Arc Flash reports.
