Reporting to the Senior Engineer, you will joint the Regional Engineering team whose goal is to exceed our customer\xe2\x80\x99s expectations in delivering reliable and cost-effective energy and services. Key elements of this role include::
Review overhead and underground customer and capital design and provide support to planners as needed.
Provide technical support for the operation and maintenance of NSPI\xe2\x80\x99s systems by ensuring that all work is conducted in accordance with NSPI\xe2\x80\x99s policies, standards, and work methods, thereby providing a consistent, safe, and cost-effective environment.
Develop and implement engineering analysis to ensure the safe and cost-effective provision of electrical service for customers and employees, by providing consistent analysis and interpretation of NSPI\xe2\x80\x99s Rates and Regulations.
Responsible for the operation of the Distribution system in accordance with NSPI\xe2\x80\x99s Engineering practices and Standard Protection Code.
Perform project management of significant customer work and be available to assist with outage restoration and emergency storm response.
You will be responsible for your personal safety and that of co-workers, by observing and ensuring compliance with all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations. You will be accountable for environmental performance as it relates to the environmental management system processes and initiatives. Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Electrical Engineering and are a full member (or eligible for membership) with Engineers NS.
Minimum of 3-5 years relevant experience is required. Experience in electric utility operations is a definite asset. Knowledge of electrical distribution systems and equipment also considered an asset.
A self-starter with proven organizational and analytical skills who can function effectively in a team environment.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, strong computer skills, a demonstrated commitment to personal development.
Valid driver\xe2\x80\x99s license, and a willingness to provide after hours consultation and emergency power restoration work.
