As an Electrical Engineer, you will support the development, deployment, and ongoing maintenance of innovative technical solutions for our clients. Working under the guidance of the Electrical Engineering Supervisor and senior management team, you will engage in a fast-paced and collaborative environment, contributing to multiple projects simultaneously. You will be expected to excel within a multidisciplinary team that includes electrical and mechanical engineers, EITs, drafting technicians, tradespeople, and administrative staff.

The ideal candidate brings proven experience with

medium-voltage power distribution systems for large industrial or commercial facilities

and is

eager to expand their skills in controls engineering for industrial machinery

. We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, self-motivated, and adaptable, with the ability to take ownership at all stages of a project -- from concept and design through to commissioning and turnover to the client.

Responsibilities of the Electrical Engineering role include:

1. Design



a) Execute detailed designs, including electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, site layouts, control schematics, single line diagrams, process and instrumentation diagrams, etc.

b) Perform electrical calculations such as circuit loading, breaker sizing, power distribution, lighting, etc.

c) Follow and reference applicable industry codes, including the Canadian Electrical Code.

d) Design complete control panels on paper or using dedicated software.

e) Work closely with the drafting department to create electrical drawing packages.

f) Interact with other disciplines, such as mechanical and structural, to achieve an integrated design.

2. Material Specification



a) Specify electrical equipment, instrumentation, and devices based on project requirements.

b) Locate suitable suppliers and obtain competitive quotations.

c) Work with purchaser to ensure product is received in time for construction or assembly.

d) Evaluate multiple options based on technical, financial, and delivery considerations.

3. Site Supervision and Commissioning



a) Schedule and coordinate site installation of electrical equipment with contractors.

b) Provide construction engineering support services and address site issues.

c) Work with electricians and drafting department to maintain accurate record drawings.

d) Carry out on-site start-up and commissioning, including programming, commissioning checklists, client training, and signoffs.

e) Follow safe work practices and fill out and maintain proper safety documentation.

4. Troubleshooting and Repairs



a) Program and troubleshoot PLC code, HMI screens, CNC systems, building automation systems, etc.

b) Diagnose and repair electrical devices sent back from the field.

c) Actively participate in remote troubleshooting of site equipment and systems via telephone, cell modem, and other VPN techniques.

5. General engineering support, administration



a) Maintain, design, and modify an in-house PLC/HMI testing and training centre.

b) Ensure time sheets, invoices, receipts, expenses, and other administrative forms are filled out correctly and submitted on time.

c) Assist other departments and participate in internal projects as required.

Minimum Requirements:



Possess an undergraduate degree in electrical engineering from an accredited university.

Registered as a P.Eng with APEGA in good standing.

2-3 years relevant professional experience is required

Committed to professionalism, safety, and being a team player.

Willing and able to travel within Canada, USA, and Mexico (must possess a valid

Canadian

passport and Class 5 operator's license).

Advantageous Qualifications:



Experience with PLC control systems and SCADA systems is an asset.

Working knowledge of AutoCAD, including AutoCAD Electrical, is an asset.

Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Windows & Office; knowledge of Linux and databases is an asset.

Experience in troubleshooting and repairing electronics and instruments is an asset.

Fluency in French or Spanish is an asset.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $100,000.00-$130,000.00 per year
