This is a unionized position on night shift (11pm \xe2\x80\x93 7am) in Unifor Local 252, reporting to the Controls and Automation Team Leader. As part of the Skilled Trades team, the successful candidate will apply their expertise to support the team strategy \xe2\x80\x9cOur job is not to fix things, it is to keep equipment running\xe2\x80\x9d.


Major Responsibilities
  • Proactively execute the needs of a 24/7 operation while being able to respond to changing demands with short notice.
  • Maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of High-Speed, PLC Controlled Processes and Packaging Equipment.
  • Use and maintenance of Programmable Logic Controllers, instrumentation, and PC to observe and repair machine function.
  • Maintenance of electrical Plant Utilities such as lighting and emergency lighting/generators.
  • Calibration of Process Control Instruments and Controllers.
  • Timely completion of Preventive Maintenance Routines and Work Orders.
  • Advise on problem resolution and the procurement of material and equipment for individual jobs.
  • Assist in project work, equipment modifications and new installations as required.
  • Keep machine file documentation system current and updated.
  • Ensure the EET Shop is maintained in a neat and orderly fashion.
  • Communicate clearly with Maintenance, Engineering and Production personnel.
  • Practice safe working methods as per the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulations, and Internal Management Policies to protect personnel and equipment.
  • Ensure instrumentation equipment in the shop and personal tools are operational and safe to use. Any defective equipment is to be returned for repair or replaced.
  • Ensure Departmental and Electrical Shop logbooks are kept current as per work performed.
  • Participate in relevant training as required.
  • Other assigned duties as per business requirements.
  • Follow all GMP Rules & Regulations and Quality Checks
  • Work according to ISO 14001 Environment and OHSAS 18001 Safety requirements



Qualifications
  • A Licensed Electrician with an Ontario Journeyman\xe2\x80\x99s Electrical License (309A or 442A) and a good working knowledge of PLCs & electronics.
  • Membership or eligibility for the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists is required
  • Experience of Key Standard Routines and Predictive Maintenance tools & Systems is required
  • Knowledge and/or Working experience with TPM (Total Productive Maintenance), especially with Preventive Maintenance Pillar methodology is preferred.
  • Can thoroughly understand company policies and procedures.
  • Strong computer skills, with working knowledge of factory systems and SAP is highly desired.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and excel at working within a team environment.
  • Demonstrated problem solving and leadership skills and can deliver results through people.
