WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
Reporting to the Automation and Robotics Manager, your role as
Electrical Drafter / Assembler
will provide excellence in delivering solutions to technical challenges brought by clients and internal projects. The position is responsible to develop industry leading, market-ready technology solutions.
The role centers on leading the design and development of advanced mechanical systems, particularly for use in harsh marine and defense environments. Core responsibilities include developing equipment such as winches, launch and recovery systems, and other electromechanical assemblies, with flexibility to contribute to a broader range of projects including custom manufacturing equipment and specialized product designs.
The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Electrical Drafting
Prepare detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and, panel layouts using AutoCAD Electrical.
Interpret engineering sketches, notes, and specifications to create accurate drafting documents.
Revise drawings based on engineering feedback or design changes.
Maintain CAD standards, drawing templates, and documentation control.
Collaborate with AnR engineers, designers, and project teams to meet project deliverables.
Assist with generating Bills of Materials (BOMs) and documentation packages.
Ensure drawings comply with relevant electrical codes and standards (NEC, IEC, IEEE).
Support assembly teams by providing updated drawings and technical clarification.
Machine Assembly
Assist with mechanical and electrical assembly of machines, equipment, or control systems according to engineering drawings.
Install, route, and terminate wiring harnesses, sensors, motors, PLC components, and other electrical hardware.
Perform mechanical assembly tasks such as mounting panels, assembling frames, installing components, and basic fabrication.
Conduct preliminary functional checks on assembled machines (continuity testing, component verification, labeling).
Identify and report any design inconsistencies or issues discovered during assembly.
Support testing and troubleshooting activities under the guidance of engineers or senior technicians.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area compliant with shop safety standards.
THE SKILLS & EXPERIENCE YOU BRING TO THE TEAM:
Diploma or technical certificate in Drafting, Electrical Technology, Mechatronics, or related field.
1-3 years of electrical drafting experience preferred.
Hands-on experience with mechanical or electrical assembly.
Experience with PLCs and robot systems is an asset.
Proficiency with AutoCAD electrical.
Basic understanding of electrical systems, components, and wiring practices.
Ability to interpret both electrical and mechanical drawings.
Comfort using basic hand tools, power tools, and measurement devices.
Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to work in both office and workshop environments.
Additional Experience:
Experience assembling automated equipment, control panels, or manufacturing machinery.
Familiarity with PLCs, sensors, VFDs, and industrial control components.
Familiarity with electronics drafting tools (Altium, KiCad).
Familiarity with electronics assembly and repair techniques, such as soldering.
Demonstrated understanding of manufacturing processes and technology.
Willingness and demonstrated ability to multi-task, address and prioritize assignments.

Our office is located in the heart of Spryfield, but more specifically, at 264 Herring Cove Road in Suite #100. If you know the Spryfield area - we are right across the street from Sobeys, close to the ever-increasing options for interesting lunches, and near to beautiful lakes, forests, and trails.
HOURS OF OPERATION:
Our office is open Monday - Friday between 9am - 5pm. Our corporate culture values work-life balance, allowing a flexible, 8 hour workday. Remote desk options are also available at locations within the regional Innovation Ecosystem, including Dalhousie ideaHUB, C.O.V.E., ThePIER, Ignite Labsabs).
