Senior Electrical Designer
to join our Eastern Canada Operations team. The selected individual will be reporting to our office in Burlington ON.

The Role
The Senior Electrical Designer will provide engineering support through the application of extensive and comprehensive knowledge, of electrical engineering and instrumentation design principles and practices, in the performance of all electrical and I&C discipline design work. Plans and prioritizes work to meet client requirements and aligned with organizational goals
Provide engineering design expertise to deliver work scopes in line with company policies and procedures
Generate electrical and I&C design drawings in AutoCAD
Perform design using 3D tools (Revit, or Aveva)
Perform design work with no or very limited supervision
Responsible to perform connection wiring diagrams, cable schedule, cable selection and sizing, as well as termination schedule
Review and comment on vendor shop drawings and implement in the design as applicable
Ensure to maintain estimates and follow project schedules as required
Drive elimination of technical incidents through robust controls, incident reviews and embedding lessons learned in engineering design procedures
Assist in continuous improvement of design systems and tools required by the discipline to deliver cost effective and competitive design execution
Maintain and assist in identifying scope and schedule changes in accordance with the Change Control Process
If required, conduct site visits while participating in site meetings, note taking, observations and site inspection reports
Ensure that designs comply with the relevant Codes, Standards, Regulations and Procedures, as well as the local site requirements and standards
Review and check work output of discipline assigned personnel, as required
Ensure Health, Safety and Environmental Regulations are followed methodically

Expected:
Technical diploma from a post-secondary institution or higher
10+ years of experience in the Power, Utility, Mining and Industrial sectors
Experience with Renewable Energy sectors is considered as an asset
Experience with AutoCAD and 3D Modelling packages, such as Revit and Aveva E3D
Solid knowledge of IEEE, ANSI, Canadian electric utility industry practices, CSA Standards, and the Ontario Electrical Safety Code
Electrical and I&C design in AutoCAD including generation of single line diagrams, motor schematics, power, lighting and cable tray layouts, P&IDs, instrument loop diagrams, I/O lists, bill of material (BOM)
Electrical design in AutoCAD for substation (high voltage and medium voltage), equipment installation details, grounding and conduit layouts
Perform design with minimum supervision from the project engineer or manager
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Comfortable to conduct site visits and collaborate / communicate with construction and maintenance crew, plant operations, and the client
Resourceful team player with self-starter aptitude
Ontario P.Eng or EIT is considered as an asset
Current authorization to lawfully work in Canada without sponsorship from Wood is required
