Job Description

M+B Engineering is currently recruiting for one position: An intermediate electrical designer to join their teams in Calgary and Edmonton, AB. The ideal candidate will be prepared to be responsible for designing, managing, and coordinating projects in the electrical discipline. These positions are for someone passionate about engineering systems and team collaboration in a high-energy environment.

Prerequisites

Relevant Experience

: Experience in Building Electrical Systems Design is required. Industrial experience will not be considered.*
Intermediate: a minimum of 3 to 9 years of experience Junior: 0-3 years.

Qualification

: A degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology is required.

Code and Standards Knowledge

: Strong familiarity with applicable codes and standards, including the National Building Code, Canadian Electrical Code, and various NFPA and CAN/ULC standards.

Technical Ability

: Proficiency in Electrical Building Systems design and project management software and platforms, such as AutoCAD, Revit, ETAP, AGI or Dialux, and Bluebeam, is required.

Proactive Attitude

: A strong sense of initiative and a commitment to continuous learning

Key Responsibilities:

Develop electrical designs, project specifications and electrical drawing details for the building's electrical systems, including but not limited to power, lighting, fire alarm, security, and communications, using Revit, AutoCAD, or any other BIM collaboration software. Perform Design coordination and quality control on assigned projects. Collaborate with clients and consultants working through the project. Project management: Ensure that scheduling, time management, and reporting are implemented effectively and efficiently. Effectively communicate and coordinate among all parties and disciplines involved in assigned projects. Accountable for on-site construction administration, including completion of site surveys and inspections of construction sites in assigned projects.

Work Environment & Physical Demands:

Flexible Schedule

: This role may require after-hours work, including weekdays, weekends, and holidays, as project workloads dictate.

Varied Locations

: While most of the work will be office-based, there may be occasional travel to client offices, production facilities, or industrial/construction job sites. Conditions will vary, but the conditions mentioned above will generally apply.

Calgary-Centric

: Most work will be in or around the city of Calgary, with occasional travel outside of this area.

Driver's License

: A valid Class 5 driver's license and access to a vehicle for occasional use are assets.
