As an Electrical Designer, you will play a pivotal role in our clients engineering team based in Calgary, AB. You will collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to design electrical systems for a wide range of projects. Design electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and telecommunications systems for various building types and infrastructure projects.
Prepare detailed electrical drawings, schematics, diagrams, and specifications using AutoCAD and other design software.
Perform calculations to ensure designs meet applicable codes, standards, and client requirements.
Coordinate with other disciplines such as mechanical, structural, and architectural teams to integrate electrical systems into overall project design.
Participate in project meetings, providing technical expertise and contributing to design discussions.
Assist in the preparation of proposals, feasibility studies, and project cost estimates.
Conduct site visits and assessments as necessary to gather data and ensure design feasibility.Qualifications
Bachelor\'s degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent relevant experience.
Proven experience as an Electrical Designer or similar role, preferably in a consulting engineering environment.
Proficiency in AutoCAD and familiarity with electrical design software such as Revit MEP or similar tools.
Solid understanding of electrical design principles, codes, and standards (e.g., Canadian Electrical Code, NFPA).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team and with clients.
P.Eng. or eligibility for P.Eng. designation in Alberta is considered an asset.
Experience with sustainable design practices and LEED certification is a plus.Summary
