Position Summary
We are looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our R&D and Product Development team. This role focuses on designing, programming, and developing control systems for elevators from concept to full-scale production.
Reporting to the R&D Manager, you will be responsible for creating innovative control solutions, troubleshooting design-related issues, and implementing new technologies to enhance our products. This position is hands-on and fast-paced, requiring expertise in PLC programming, PCB design, and control system development.
This role is 100% on-site in Brampton, ON.
Essential Duties and Requirements
Product Development & Innovation: Design, develop, and optimize electrical control systems for elevators and platform lifts, from initial concept to market-ready solutions.
PLC Programming & Control Design: Create and refine PLC-based control logic to meet product requirements.
Electrical & PCB evaluation: Develop controllers, electrical schematics, and wiring diagrams using AutoCAD Electrical.
Prototype Development & Testing: Build, test, and validate prototypes, using data-driven analysis to improve performance.
Technology Research & Implementation: Investigate and integrate emerging technologies, ensuring our products remain industry-leading.
Technical Problem-Solving: Identify and resolve design-related control issues throughout the product development cycle.
Quality & Compliance: Ensure designs meet functional, safety, and regulatory requirements through DFMEA and risk assessment.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with mechanical engineers, software developers, and QA teams to bring innovative solutions to market.
Documentation & Knowledge Transfer: Maintain detailed project documentation, including design concepts, calculations, and software requirements.

Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or C.E.T. in an Electrical discipline.
10+ years of experience in programming, control system design, and product development.
Strong expertise in elevator controls, industrial automation, or similar machinery.
Proficiency in AutoCAD for creating schematics, panel layouts, and wiring diagrams.
Hands-on experience developing custom controllers and PCB-based control solutions.
Deep understanding of DFMEA, risk mitigation, and safety compliance in product development.
Strong problem-solving skills with experience in electrical troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.
Ability to lead R&D projects from concept to production, working in a fast-paced, innovation-driven environment.
Knowledge of CAN bus communications, microcontrollers, and hybrid/electric drive systems.
Exposure to hydraulic controls and advanced automation technologies.
Strong analytical skills for data collection, testing, and performance optimization.
