Key Responsibilities
Automation & PLC Technician
Test and troubleshoot PLC-based control systems as Allen-Bradley ControlLogix, Studio 5000, Siemens type of systems. Some programming might be involved strictly based on qualifications.
Ability to configure HMI/SCADA applications using Ignition, FactoryTalk View,
I
/O testing, loop checks, FAT/SAT, *commissioning, and system validation activities. Able to perform control logic modifications, system upgrades, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Robotics & Motion Systems
Integrate, program, and troubleshoot robotic platforms.
Configure and maintain servo drives, stepper motor systems, and VFDs (ABB, AB, Danfoss, Schneider).
Support motion control tuning, robot path optimization, and system diagnostics.
Industrial Networking & Data Systems
Configure and maintain industrial communication networks, including Ethernet/IP, Device Net or similar.
Implement and manage OPC servers and integrate plc systems with SQL databases for data collection and reporting.
Troubleshoot network performance issues and ensure system reliability.
Electrical Technician & Maintenance
Create, review, and interpret electrical schematics, control panel layouts, P&IDs, and wiring diagrams using CAD/DWG/Revit
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical and automated systems.
Conduct thermographic inspections, load analysis, and power quality assessments to ensure equipment integrity.
Compliance, Documentation & Safety
Ensure all installations and modifications comply with CSA, UL, and IEC electrical and automation standards.
Adhere to LOTO, arc-flash, and electrical safety procedures.
Prepare detailed technical documentation, commissioning reports, training materials, and standard operating procedures.
Collaboration & Technical Support
Provide remote and on-site technical support for automation and electrical control systems.
Work closely with cross-functional teams in operations, Sanitation, WH to optimize production processes.
Lead or support training initiatives on PLCs, robotics, SCADA tools, and industrial automation equipment.
Qualifications
Education
Red seal electrician or instrumentation
Degree in Power and/or Electrical Engineering is an asset
Experience
3+ years of experience in industrial automation, control systems, and electrical maintenance.
Proven background in manufacturing, packaging systems, robotics cells, and automated production lines.
