This position is responsible for leading the asset maintenance program, ensuring a structured process to developing, implementing and optimizing an electrical equipment maintenance program according to industry best practices. The ideal candidate is one who is committed to safe work practices and strives for zero harm. Key responsibilities:

  • Develop an asset register for all electrical and instrumentation equipment and their sub-assemblies;
  • Program all the assets and their sub-assemblies into SAP along with the required master data;
  • Complete an equipment criticality analysis for key assets to determine failure impact on safety, quality, environment, production, and costs;
  • Review and update bill of materials for assets and their sub-assemblies in SAP;
  • Complete request for stock forms for holding new inventory or changing existing inventory levels after reviewing the spare parts guidelines;
  • Review and update site-wide electrical and instrumentation engineering drawings including technical documents such as protection and coordination setting sheets, specifications, O&M manuals and ensure as-built drawings are in compliance with Canadian electrical code C22.1, CSA M421 Use of electricity in mines, CSA Z462 Workplace electrical safety and any other applicable legal regulations;
  • Develop procedures to maintain attributes of engineering drawings such as creating, modifying, reviewing, and approving them;
  • Complete long term planning to identify resources and maintenance tasks for critical assets of the operation;
  • Collaborate with Superintendent to review and update the equipment lifecycle maintenance plan and schedule for key assets from chosen maintenance tactics to improve equipment reliability and availability;
  • Ensure long-term maintenance plans work in tandem with the Electrical safety program and are in compliance with OEM recommendations, CSA Z463 Maintenance of Electrical Systems, and lifecycle asset performance.
Reporting to the Electrical and Instrumentation Superintendent, the role is based within the Engineering and Site Services department. This is a site-based position with 4 days on, 3 days off rotation with the point of pickup Yellowknife, NT.

Qualifications
Formal qualifications:
  • University degree in Electrical Engineering and eligibility for Professional Engineer Registration with NAPEG;
  • Minimum three years of experience in an industrial setting preferably in mining industry;
  • Strong understanding of Maintenance Practices, Tactics and Strategies;
  • Advanced skills in AutoCAD and intermediate skills in MS Office;
  • Knowledge of CSA Z463 Maintenance of Electrical System;
  • Knowledge of CSA Z462 Workplace Electrical Safety;
  • Skills in SAP would be an asset.
