Job Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Legislative Projects Advisor, the successful candidate will form part of the election team and will assist with the coordination of the 2026 municipal election. Duties include but are not limited to:
Assisting in the review of changes to applicable legislation and the impact on current processes and technologies.
Recruitment, including processing application forms and interviewing, training, and management of election day staff.
Maintaining confidential personnel information and providing all necessary correspondence for training and placement for voting day and advance voting period.
Reviewing requirements and determining physical voting locations, including legislative requirements inclusive of accessibility requirements.
Assisting in the management of advance voting and voting day locations and election personnel.
Responding to inquiries - in person, by telephone, mail, and e-mail to the public and staff regarding municipal election matters.
Assisting with the research, review and creation of election forms, training manuals and other election related materials.
Training of election day personnel, including assisting in training program development and review.
Proofing and amending the preliminary list of electors.
Updating the election website.
Ordering supplies and services for the election.
Performing other duties as assigned.
Requirement for evening and/or weekend shifts.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Public Administration, Political Science, or equivalent field of study.
Formal education is augmented by progressively responsible experience in positions that have resulted in a highly developed understanding of municipal elections, project management, and municipal government. A certificate in project management is considered an asset.
Ability to understand and interpret municipal legislation, knowledge of municipal elections and legislation is an asset.
Political acuity and sound knowledge in the public and political interface. Sound leadership and supervisory abilities, outstanding service delivery, conflict resolution skills, and organizational and communication skills.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite applications and the ability to learn and adapt to new technology and processes.
