What you will be doing The EHS Manager is responsible to develop, implement and lead the site Health, Safety and Environment systems to ensure regulatory compliance and support RBM Canada reach its sustainable development objectives.
Overall responsibilities

  • As owner of the site EHS Management process, this role is responsible for all related processes, analyzing the risks in the process, and ensuring intended results. In the case of results below assumptions and a negative trend, this role will re-analyze the risks and implement corrective actions.
  • This role has hierarchical responsibility of the EHS department of RBM Canada, with major focus on development of RBM Canada\xe2\x80\x99s EHS department structure.
Specific responsibilities
  • Coordinate the activities of team members to maintain & develop Environmental, Occupational Health & Safety management systems.
  • Ensure that industrial operations are in compliance with Corporate, government Environment, Health & Safety regulations and customer requirements.
  • Cooperate with regular Environment, Health & Safety audits to monitor local requirements, accident & incident or unsafe behavior & conditions.
  • Reporting to top management on the functioning of the EMS, including environmental activities.
  • Work with team to develop effective Environment, Occupational Health & Safety strategies to eliminate or mitigate accident & incident cases.
  • Investigate Environment, Health & Safety accidents & incidents, develop corrective or preventive plans and verify the effectiveness to avoid repeated cases.
  • Develop budget and timelines for Environmental, Occupational Health & Safety operations and develop cost reduction initiatives while still maintaining quality.
  • As necessary, provide job training and assistance to team members.
  • Conducts safety meetings, audits, and inspections to ensure compliance, evaluate performance, identify corrective actions and implement follow-up assessments.
  • Provides project management team with guidance on health and safety and confirm project site fulfills local guidelines and regulations.
  • Develop an emergency response plan & program.

Who we are looking for
Functional Requirements
  • Technical Bachelor or Master\xe2\x80\x99s Degree (process, chemistry, metallurgy, engineering)
    • Preference for additional training in Safety prevention or Environmental studies.
  • 8 to 10 years of EHS experience of which at least 5 in a production environment.
  • Good understanding/knowledge of chemical and metallurgical processes and associated risks.
  • Having implemented safety prevention programs in industrial environment, is a plus
  • Practical experience with HAZOP, ATEX regulations and other relevant prevention programs & regulations
  • Knowledge EHS processes and risk-based approach
  • Knowledge of the requirements of ISO9001 and IATF16949 to the extent necessary to lead the assigned process
  • Proficient with PC tools as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of more sophisticated digital tools, such as PowerBi, is a plus
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to phrase concepts in a structured and clear manner
  • Able to change attitudes and to create acceptance to change
  • Ability to convince without formal authority
