What you\'ll doThis position is dedicated to enhancing both faculty pedagogical practices and student learning experiences at CapU Squamish. This unique position offers an exciting opportunity to significantly impact both teaching excellence and student success. The successful candidate will be a central figure at CapU Squamish, working to bridge the gap between faculty and student support to create a cohesive and integrated approach to teaching and learning.This role requires a candidate with a broad skill set, including expertise in pedagogy, technology, curriculum development, and collaborative project management, who is committed to fostering an environment of excellence and innovation in higher education.Illustrative Examples/Specific Responsibilities

  • Faculty Support and Development: Collaborate closely with faculty members to foster excellence in teaching through a variety of development programs and individual consultations. Support the integration of technology in teaching and assist in curriculum design to promote learning-centered and collaborative pedagogies.
  • Support Curriculum Design and Teaching with Technology: Assist faculty in the development of curriculum and incorporation of technology in teaching, ensuring that educational practices are modern, effective, and conducive to student learning.
  • Student Learning Enhancement: Provide direct support to students by offering learning strategies, programming, and developing content-focused peer tutoring programs across campus. The role aims to facilitate student academic performance, success, retention, and well-being through tailored learning strategies that complement classroom and online instruction.
  • Lead Peer Tutoring and Learning Strategies Programs: Develop and oversee content-focused peer tutoring programs and learning strategies support programming to facilitate student academic achievement and well-being across campus.
  • Collaborative Engagement: Establish and maintain effective working relationships with various university departments including Counselling, Indigenous, Accessibility, and other Student Services to ensure a holistic approach to student success and faculty development.
  • Act as a Key Resource: Serve as a central resource for both faculty and students, providing expert advice, resources, and support on educational practices, learning strategies, and academic success.
What you\'ll bringEducation & Experience
  • Master\'s degree in Education or a related field (PhD preferred)
  • 2 years of experience working in educational and faculty development at the postsecondary level
  • Minimum of 3 years of direct experience in providing study strategies instruction to diverse learners.
  • Additional certification in Tutor Training, Teaching, the Provincial Instructors Diploma, or related area would be an asset.
  • Teaching and curriculum development experience would be an asset.
  • Facilitator Development Workshop (FDW) certificate would be an asset.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and electronic scheduling and record-keeping software.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize, and manage projects effectively, with a flexible, positive attitude towards innovation and excellence in teaching and learning.
  • Demonstrated experience in educational development and learning strategies in a higher education setting, with a strong foundation in designing and delivering both faculty development programs and student learning support initiatives.
  • Proficiency in curriculum design and the use of technology in teaching, including experience in online and blended learning course design, development, and delivery.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop course-aligned learning strategies workshops, both in-person and remote, as well as asynchronous learning resources.
  • Experience in developing peer-tutoring programs and supervising peer leaders, with a knowledge base in current research, teaching, learning best practices, and teaching excellence standards, such as active learning and engagement strategies.
  • Familiarity with instructional technologies, design theories, and practices, including expertise in Moodle, e-portfolio, video-conferencing, educational technology, and assessment technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to liaise and collaborate with various service areas to address specific learning needs and oversee related program design and content.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with a diverse population and build relationships across departments. Ability to develop and maintain collegial, consultative, and collaborative relationships across the university, and adapt to and manage change and crisis situations effectively.
  • Knowledge of current learning theory, student development theory, learning differences, and their application in a post-secondary context, including the impact of physical classroom environments on teaching approaches.
  • Demonstrated organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills, with a capacity for initiative, resourcefulness, and creative solution-finding.
