This position works directly with instructors to offer educational support to a class as a whole and provides individual and small group assistance to learners who require extra support in a tutorial or lab setting.

This position:

  • Assists learners with the acquisition of specific Center of Entertainment Arts subjects in the programs Foundation of Entertainment Arts, 3D Animation& 3D modeling and Advanced Visual Effects.
  • Assists learners in improving academic achievement by meeting with them on a regular basis to clarify learning problems and work on study skills.
  • Assists in development and evaluation of course plans, materials, and services.
  • Administers skills assessments and invigilates exams.
  • Supports instructors in the laboratory with the delivery of laboratory materials.
  • Provides academic support for learners.
Support classroom instruction
  • Assists instructors and support students' learning in the laboratory and classroom.
  • Fosters a positive learning environment in which learners are encouraged to be actively engaged in the learning process.
  • Maintains consistent communication with instructors regarding individual students and the curriculum.
  • Models' appropriate academic attitudes and behaviors.
  • Supports instructors to ensure that learner growth and achievement is continuous and appropriate for the language level, subject area, and program classification.
  • Provides educational assistance to students having trouble working through their materials.
  • Supervises laboratory in Instructor's absence.
  • Support ongoing operational requirements
Supports learning by:
  • Deals with queries raised by learners or referring them to an appropriate instructor.
  • Conducts tutorial sessions and supports learners in projects and assignments by providing mentorship and guidance.
  • Assists learners with technical issues.
Conducts administrative duties by
  • Supports learner orientation processes and providing overview of services.
  • Meets professional obligations through efficient work habits such as, meeting deadlines, honoring schedules, and coordinating resources and meetings in an effective and timely manner.
  • Completes required paperwork.
  • Stays current with course materials and content to assists students.
Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications
  • Demonstrable familiarity and experience in this discipline.
  • A demo reel of relevant work
  • Relevant degree/diploma is advantageous.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, time management and interpersonal skills.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • An equivalent combination of directly related education and experience may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience training coworkers, peers and/or practicum students.
  • Experience working with learners from beginner to advanced levels, and with learners with interrupted formal education.
  • Ability to work independently and on a collaborative team.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Ability to recognize variations in learner backgrounds, abilities, and learning styles.
  • Ability to interact in a friendly and patient manner with learners from different cultural backgrounds, learners of all levels of language proficiency, and learners who may require accommodations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and assess learners' comprehension levels by varying methods.
  • Ability to respond to learner writing both holistically and analytically.
  • Ability to listen actively and effectively in order to identify and solve problems, facilitate learning for learners, and build learner confidence.
  • Ability to help/guide learners without doing the work for them.
