We are seeking applications for an Educational Assistant to work as one-on-one support for Kindergarten classroom. This position is unique and will require an individual with the skill set to not only understand and support Kindergarten students at their age and stage of development, but also have a background and experience to support complex medical needs, on a daily basis and follow therapy plans. This role plays a critical part in supporting the student's social, emotional, physical, and academic development in a safe and nurturing environment.
The schedule for this position is full days on Tuesday and Thursdays, and part day on Fridays and the contract runs from January 5, 2026 to June 26, 2026.

ABOUT THE SCHOOL:
Rolling Hills is a small rural community in the southern central portion of the province of Alberta. The community is agricultural based and the town serves a population of about 500 residents including the surrounding farms. The community has a full sized indoor skating rink and a nine hole golf course for summer activities. The community hall is a large modern structure that is capable of hosting events and public gatherings with as many as 250 people. "Community Cookies" is an volunteer-run organization which prepares cookie dough to support the school and various other community organizations. The school population varies between 65-80 students, and offers instruction from ECS to grade nine. Our students benefit from being able to use the community recreational resources as well as a full sized gymnasium for sports and cultural activities. We are fortunate, due to community support of many fundraisers, to offer a wide variety of extra-curricular activities to our students, such as sports programs, ski trips, educational field trips, and swimming lessons.

support complex medical needs in activities such as lifting, transferring, feeding, and providing personal care;
Under the guidance of a multidisciplinary team, Implement therapy plans through activities such as art therapy, music therapy, and physical activities designed to reduce stress and improve emotional wellbeing;
maintain accurate and organized records as directed by the lead teacher, lead EA, and therapists, which will include, but is not limited to records of the student's daily activities, progress, and any incidents;
follow therapy materials, set up equipment, and workspaces as required;
communicate effectively with teachers and staff regarding student needs and progress within professional boundaries;
Follow ethical and professional guidelines when working with students;
Adhere to school policies, safety regulations, and confidentiality requirements;
encourage positive interactions between students and staff;
work closely and collaboratively with multi disciplinary teams, school staff including, but not limited to, classroom teachers, support staff and administration; and,
support and participate in student school activities such as swimming or outdoor sports and may require the EA to participate with students.

Able to take direction, ask questions, while also working with autonomy.
Physical capacity to assist with student mobility and positioning (lifting/ carrying/ pushing/pulling), sit on the floor and/or at small tables/chairs for long periods of time and frequently changing from sitting to standing.
Strong understanding of behavior management techniques and strategies for supporting children with complex health conditions.
Able to remain calm and composed in challenging situations and to deescalate as appropriate.
Patience, empathy, and a commitment to providing a safe and supportive environment for students.
Able to assist with dressing, toileting and feeding.
Experience with speech-language and/or occupational therapies.
Flexible and able to work independently or as a team.
Excellent attention to detail.

Able to support students with literacy and numeracy, that is in alignment with the grade and level.
