Position Summary

The Education Liaison is a key member of the Saint Elizabeth First Nations, Inuit and M\xc3\xa9tis Program (SE FNIMP) and works in partnership with FNIM communities, organizations and heath care providers, students and other partners to support the development and delivery of culturally appropriate education programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Builds a network of community support and assists in the development of community capacity by identifying and celebrating existing community-led strategies, programs and initiatives
  • Leads key education, knowledge exchange and engagement strategies (May be province or topic specific)
  • Acts as a liaison with SE and health care providers in First Nation communities to ensure client and student needs are integrated in knowledge exchange initiatives
  • Leverage technology to meet the ongoing education and training needs of community health care providers and students in convenient, practical and cost-effective ways
  • Identifies client and student training needs and assist in the development and implementation of customized curriculum, training and education programs.
  • Prepares and analyzes data/reports to evaluate the achievement of education and program objectives and to identify trends and gaps
  • Supports Health Career College student evaluations and continuous improvement processes
  • Participates in the development of strategic program goals and project plans for achievement
  • Utilizes project management tools and processes in Project Management
  • Establish and maintain partnerships with Federal/Provincial/Territorial (FPT) Governments; FPT health care organizations; and funders
  • Support relationships with strategic partners to improve and expand program and education offerings
  • Supports development and implementation of standardized systems and procedures in order to facilitate excellence in quality services
  • Build on the collective wisdom, passion and values that exist at the community level, while celebrating the fact that every community and student is unique
  • Provides support to the Health Career College Education Team on the inclusion of culturally appropriate curriculum and teaching methodologies.
  • Provides education instruction to ensure successful delivery of the Health Career College Programs.
  • Preparing teaching materials and outlines for courses on the available curriculum, in accordance with program learning goals.
  • Participates in collaborative promotional and marketing initiatives that are guided by best practice and celebrate cultural diversity.
  • Provide support to new and ongoing contract requirements, and provide support to RFP contract development.
  • Identify new business opportunities provincially and nationally for the FNIM Program
  • Ensures adherence to SE standards and contract standards
  • All other reasonable duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Current full RN or RPN registration with applicable provincial regulatory body
  • Two or more years of experience teaching in a formal education setting
  • Demonstrated ability to teach adult learners (i.e. relevant training and education or previous teaching experience with satisfactory references or positive performance evaluations and student course evaluations); and
  • A person of First Nations, Inuit or M\xc3\xa9tis ancestry is preferred
  • Demonstrated understanding of First Nations, Inuit and M\xc3\xa9tis culture, history, challenges, issues and strengths
  • Demonstrated understanding of First Nations, Inuit and M\xc3\xa9tis political and health delivery structures at the National, Regional, Tribal and community level
  • Work experience with First Nations, Inuit and M\xc3\xa9tis health programs is required
  • A strong leadership background in health care initiatives is required
  • Demonstrated skills in program development, relationship management and engagement is required
  • Strong project management and facilitation skills are required
  • Background in adult education, and flexibility and adaptability in training methods and delivery of adult education (classroom/virtual) are required
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, public speaking experience and well developed presentation abilities are required
  • Demonstrated experience facilitating/teaching on-line distance education courses is preferred
  • Demonstrated experience with online webinar platforms, videoconference technology and tools Proficiency in Microsoft applications (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) or a willingness to learn
  • Flexibility to work in a variety of environments is required
  • Ability and willingness to travel frequently and work irregular hours is required
