As an integral member of the multidisciplinary team, contributes clinical recommendations that are person-centred and lead to collaborative cancer care planning.The Education & Liaison Nurse - Health Equity applies advanced skills and knowledge of applying actions toward health equity to enhance awareness and understanding within the context of cancer and Manitoba\'s population that includes the distinct experiences and voices of First Nations, Metis, Inuit, Newcomers, and other underserved populations are guiding principles for this role. Building capacity of health equity principles and actions within staff and physicians working at CancerCare Manitoba (CCMB), Community Cancer Programs, and our partners.The ELNHE is focused in the following areas: education, consultation, advanced clinical practice, and leadership. The incumbent will support the creation of a culturally safe and equitable care environment at CCMB and will also collaborate to improve cultural safety and equity among partner organizations working with patients with cancer, their families, communities, and their providers.Qualifications:Education

  • Post secondary degree in Nursing required from an accredited educational institution
  • Master Degree in Nursing, Public Health, or other related area preferred
Skills and Abilities
  • Familiar with the Manitoba cancer system and cancer patient journey is considered an asset
  • Must be able to establish and maintain equitable, inclusive, and effective working relationships with all levels of staff, the general public, as well as internal and external stakeholders and partners
  • Able to demonstrate an understanding of health equity and how it impacts patient care, experience and outcomes
  • Able to show an awareness of underserved populations such as First Nations, M\xc3\xa9tis and Inuit peoples, newcomers, sexual and gender diverse, older adults, and individuals who are geographically isolated.
  • Must have strong problem solving, critical thinking, and organizational and time management skills.
  • Must have strong written and oral communication skills, including public speaking and presenting, as well as strong attention to detail.
  • Must be able to work in independent and team environments.
  • Must be skilled in working with the internet, Windows platforms and Microsoft programs including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project.
  • Experience with electronic health records (EMR)
  • Experience using web-based communications and video-conferencing, such as MB-Telehealth and Microsoft Teams/Zoom.
Required Licenses, Registrations, Designations
  • Registered or eligible for registration with College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM)
  • Completion of an oncology related program or willingness to complete a recommended course within 12 months of starting the position
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
  • Up to date immunization record
  • The incumbent may need to be available to work evenings and weekends as required. This position may require travel within Winnipeg and to other Cancer Care Manitoba (CCMB) sites and Communities
  • Travel to other sites/facilities will require a valid Manitoba driver\'s license and use of a personal motor vehicle
