EDM Field Technician:
The ideal candidate would be someone who....
can remove (as applicable) and installing elevator fixtures and interior finishes.
can use hand tools proficiently to secure varied materials
has excellent mechanical aptitude, excellent communication and decision-making skills
has accuracy in measurements and exceptional attention to details.
What you will do in the role:
Elevator-Specific Installation, Service and Surveys
Access and work safely inside elevator, hoist ways, on car-tops, and in elevator pits, following all TSSA elevating-device regulations.
Perform elevator cab installation, repairs, survey including:
+ Perform removal of existing material where required
+ Taking measurements and completing surveys, modification, or replacement of elevator cab interiors as part of modernization or renovation projects.
+ Work with Metal, wood, and glass wall panels
+ Work on Stainless steel cladding
+ Work on Ceilings, lighting fixtures, diffusers
+ Prep for Car Operating Panels (COPs) and auxiliary panels
+ Flooring and trim components Execute precision mechanical work in restricted elevator spaces requiring elevator-industry skill and hazard awareness.
Safety & Compliance
Follow all ED-specific lockout/tagout procedures to ensure cars are secured against movement before entering hoist way or pit areas.
Maintain strict adherence to TSSA codes, customer safety protocols, and internal safe operating procedures.
Identify, report, and mitigate elevator-specific hazards (crush hazards, overhead clearance, car-top e-stop knowledge).
Quality & Technical Accuracy
Apply advanced measurement, leveling, and alignment techniques to ensure precise installation of elevator cab components.
Troubleshoot fitment, alignment, and hardware issues unique to elevator interiors and mechanical systems.
Prevent product, building, or equipment damage during complex elevator installations where errors have significant cost and safety implications.
Operational Responsibilities
Work independently under minimal supervision from the Field Operations Supervisor.
Manage materials and tools effectively while working in tight, vertical elevator spaces.
Maintain vehicle, tools, and stock levels to support efficient field operations.
Complete all installation records, site documentation, and safety checklists accurately and on time.
Communicate professionally with customers, building representatives, and elevator mechanics onsite.
Participate actively in Health & Safety programs, 5S activities, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Perform additional related duties as required by project needs.
What you bring to the role:
High school diploma or equivalent experience
Demonstrated experience working in elevator hoistways, car-tops, or pits
EDM "T" License required; EDM "D" License a strong asset
Minimum 1 year of experience installing elevator cab interiors, fixtures, or modernization components
Strong mechanical aptitude and experience working around elevating devices
Expert-level proficiency with hand tools, power tools, measuring devices, and specialty installation equipment
Must successfully complete Elevating Devices (ED) safety training, including:
+ Working at Heights
+ Hoist way Access and Car-Top Work Safety
+ Pit Access and Confined Space Awareness Knowledge of Elevator Lockout/Tagout procedures
Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
Ability to safely lift/move up to 50 lbs (assisted as needed)
This is an hourly Day Shift position working out of our Mississauga, Ontario location, at least 44 hours weekly. Hours are typically Monday to Friday 7:30am - 4:00pm or 6:00pm - 2:30am.
Pay: $24.00 per hour working 44 hours per week.
This is a Temporary, contract, Hourly position.
