The Position

Plan International Canada is seeking an experienced and detail-orientated Editorial Production Editor to join our creative editorial marketing team. In this role, you will work closely with the writers, editors, and other members of the editorial team to ensure that our content is of the highest quality and delivered on time. You will oversee the annual production of hundreds of pieces of content. This includes everything from 30+ Impact Reports to our Gift of Hope catalog to hundreds of different storytelling-inspired multi-platform projects that we create for our various stakeholders and supporters.

What success looks like?

  • Develop editorial workflow and schedules to meet multiple concurrent deadlines for multiple stakeholders.
  • Track the team\'s production of multi-platform content from ideation to completion. This also involves setting deadlines and predicting deliverable dates that are based on ongoing analysis and tracking of the team\'s capacity.
  • Work with copy editors to ensure all content produced follows our brand and style guidelines according to established guidelines.
  • Notify writers and editors if there are changes to workflow or deadlines.
  • Be able to identify editorial production-related problems swiftly and exercise good judgment in developing solutions and setting priorities.
  • Continually recommend editorial production process improvements.
  • Assist in tracking/recording KPIs associated with content performance.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices for editorial production
As our ideal candidate you will have:
  • Experience in a deadline-driven editorial production role
  • Strong knowledge of publishing processes and workflows
  • Proven skills in proofreading with a high level of accuracy
  • Experience managing freelancers and suppliers
  • Strong IT skills, including Word, InDesign/InCopy workflow model, and Excel
  • Stellar organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and work to deadlines
  • A keen eye for detail and a meticulous, collaborative, and flexible approach to work
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to deal with stakeholders at all levels
  • Ability to work independently
  • Bachelor\'s degree in Journalism, English, Communications, or a related field.
