The Opportunity:

The Production Editor\xe2\x80\x99s role is to support in the preparation, publishing, and maintenance of research content to ensure the quality and currency of the IT and HR research publications on the website. The Production Editor will apply proven organizational and editorial skills to deliver cohesive and comprehensible content to our clients via our website. This will include substantive editing, publishing via the content management system, conferring with research analysts and others to resolve issues, writing content summaries, and proofing client distribution emails. This individual will also review and analyze the usability of the content on the website and provide feedback to the research analysts.

Responsibilities:

Content editor

  • Complete publication copy editing using three-pass technique (mechanical editing, content editing, formatting)
  • Complete substantive publication editing (voice, tense, context, clarity) using the quality tools provided
  • Adhere to visual standards through layout verification (template use, visual adherence to standards, e.g. colour, font, spacing, alignment, labeling, graphic standards/appropriate stock-image choice)
  • Apply style guide (capitalization, wording conventions, formatting, bullets, references, etc.)
  • Test tools to ensure functionality
  • Liaise with authors, distributors, promoters of content
  • Liaise with designers for image development
  • Summarize written material as required
  • Provide peer reviews to further improve quality of publications
  • Write publication landing page copy as required
  • Contribute to and maintain process and standards guides
  • Use knowledge of taxonomy to make categorization and keyword tagging suggestions/decisions
  • Plan and execute publication quality audits
  • Scope research cycle content for readiness
Content publisher
  • Upload and publish publications and supporting media
  • Maintain publications on website (edits, bug fixes)
  • Verify publication post-publish (using standards defined)
  • Review published content for issues
  • Liaise with developers to recommend CMS improvements and fixes
  • Manage publication publishing schedule and raise schedule issues
  • Verify publication distribution emails and social posts
  • Identify and retire out-of-date publications from the website
Requirements:
  • University degree or College diploma in English, Journalism, Technical Writing or equivalent
  • Exceptional editing, spelling, and language skills
  • Strong ability to adhere to procedures
  • Passion for accuracy and affinity for details
  • Strong online research abilities (e.g. confirming copyright, accuracy of stats and quotes)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent listening and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language
  • Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative, agile environment
