As an Economist, you will:
monitor and evaluate the economic performance of Ontario's innovation performance and regional economies
provide economic analysis and strategic policy advice and options on a range of innovation, regional, industrial, and business policy issues
work with policy and program stakeholders to analyze proposals and develop options to support economic growth
identify, and conduct research on emerging issues
provide sophisticated quantitative and qualitative analysis
develop strategic and viable policy options

Economic Knowledge:
You have:
knowledge of economic theories and policy development
an understanding of the economic issues which affect the competitiveness of Ontario's innovation performance, regional economies and industries
ability to review and analyze data and assess economic trends and developments
ability to prepare economic reports and recommendations
familiarity with the government decision-making process

Analytical and Project Management Skills:
You can:
analyze data and statistics
Use statistical modelling tools to explore data and carry out your own analysis
prepare statistical reports and analysis using computer-based databases and graphics-based programs
Conduct thorough research to support evidence-based decision-making
support the work of team members
work with various computer applications

Communication and Consultation Skills:
You are:
a strong communicator, able to express ideas clearly in both writing and speech
