40 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Salary Band:

$90,000.00 to $110,000.00 per Year

Position Summary



The Economic Development Manager is responsible for identifying, developing, and managing business and economic opportunities that create long-term value for McLeod Lake Indian Band through TDLP and its related entities. This role oversees TDLP programs, staff, and projects, including proposal development, business planning, community coordination, and property and asset management. The position requires strong leadership, financial acumen, and the ability to manage multiple strategic initiatives across several industries.

Key Responsibilities



Business and Economic Development



Identify, evaluate, and pursue new business opportunities and partnerships aligned with TDLP's goals and strategic plan Develop business plans, feasibility studies, and financial projections for new ventures and partnerships Prepare and deliver presentations, reports, and recommendations to the TDLP Board Support negotiation of commercial agreements, leases, and contracts with external partners

Program Oversight and Administration



Oversee the delivery and reporting of TDLP-managed programs and projects Supervise project and administrative staff through mentorship, direction, and performance management Maintain project files, work plans, and performance metrics for internal and Board reporting Ensure TDLP initiatives align with budgets, strategic timelines, and community priorities

Proposal Writing and Reporting



Research and prepare grant and funding applications for business and infrastructure development Coordinate administration of contribution agreements and funding reports Track project expenses, deliverables, and compliance requirements

Property and Asset Management



Oversee TDLP-owned or leased properties and assets including maintenance, tenant coordination, and capital planning Develop property management schedules, inspection routines, and improvement strategies Identify opportunities to repurpose or expand properties to support revenue growth

Community and Stakeholder Relations



Liaise with MLIB departments, industry partners, and funding agencies to support collaboration Represent TDLP at meetings, forums, and industry events to advance business development interests Support community engagement and communication for major projects

Board and Governance Support



Prepare monthly and quarterly TDLP Board reports summarizing projects, opportunities, and risks Present business cases, financial overviews, and operational updates at Board meetings Support the development and refinement of TDLP policies, procedures, and strategic frameworks

Qualifications



Degree or diploma in Business Administration, Economic Development, Indigenous Governance, or a related field Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in economic development, business management, or project coordination Experience preparing proposals, funding applications, business plans, and feasibility studies Strong understanding of Indigenous economic development and partnership models Demonstrated ability to manage staff, budgets, and multiple concurrent projects Excellent communication, relationship-building, and presentation skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office and business productivity software
