Job Summary

Established in 1989, we are one of Canada's longest running gift basket companies. Our small team specializes in creating beautifully curated gift baskets and boxes filled with small batch, handmade items produced on Van Island and other parts of BC and Canada. Online orders are fulfilled in our shop, delivered locally and shipped nationwide.

We are seeking a long term, motivated and enthusiastic associate to join our team. The primary responsibility of this position requires assembling gift baskets & boxes on demand utilizing our various techniques and materials.

This role also involves filling orders, shipping, restocking inventory, deliveries and maintaining the overall appearance and cleanliness of the workplace.

Our shop is not open to the public. You will work with a small team in a casual environment. A pat on the resident Labradors head is always welcomed.

The ideal candidate has a passion for supporting local producers & artisans, an eye for detail, has the physical stamina to work quickly when needed and takes pride in creating a high quality product for our valued client. Being 'self directed' is important - you take the initiative when needed and perform tasks efficiently.

This position requires physical movement and is not a desk job.

Responsibilities

Assemble gift baskets and boxes to a high standard of detail and finishing. Maintain a tidy and organized work environment which will include some cleaning tasks. Accurately and efficiently fill orders per custom requests. Assist with updating products and designs (no previous experience necessary), especially in advance of holidays. Collaborate with team members to achieve sales goals and improve store operations. Restocking shelves and organizing merchandise Assist management as needed. Deliver gifts throughout the Greater Victoria Area including downtown (compact company car provided) on some days. Input order and shipping info into the system to generate courier & post labels Full time hours in Nov. & Dec mandatory. We close for approx. three weeks following Christmas.

Experience & Requirements

Previous shop, clerical, assembly or creative experience welcomed but not required. Desk-top computer skills needed for: email, texts, data entry, etc. Comfortable using google maps & GPS while making deliveries. Valid full BC drivers license with clean abstract for a minimum of 5 years. Reliable personal transportation to and from work. Ability to stand on your feet while working with your hands in front of you. Ability to occasionally climb stairs or lift 40 lbs. A fast worker that doesn't dilly dally, yet strives for a job well done. Highly detailed and organized. A keen eye for aesthetics (style, colours, design) is helpful but not required. Strong communication skills and a friendly, positive attitude. Reliable and punctual with a clear sense of time management. Takes direction well and learns quickly. Enjoys working as a team, yet capable of self managing as needed.
Hours: 8:30 AM to 3:30-4PM - Three days a week (TBD); (Full time in Nov/Dec)
