Work Schedule 35 hours/week (7 hour/day)



Split Shift - 6:45am - 10:15am and 2:45pm - 6:15pm







Position Summary:



Registered Early Childhood Educators are required to provide professional, high quality play-based licensed before and after school programs that meet the developmental needs of children 3.8 - 12 years of age. Registered Early Childhood Educators are responsible for developing and implementing a program based on the Ministry of Education "How Does Learning Happen? Ontario's Pedagogy for the Early Years" document while adhering to established HDSB policies and procedures and quality standards, as well as the regulations of the Child Care and Early Years Act. This position reports to the Manager, Early Years and Child Care Programs.







The successful candidates could be relocated each morning to a school based on the needs of the system. All applicants should be available and willing to relocate if needed.







Key Responsibilities:







This position requires the ability and flexibility to work a flexible schedule including early mornings and late afternoons.

Program areas will be based out of shared spaces within HDSB schools, therefore, requiring movement/set up of equipment on a daily/weekly/ monthly basis

Responsible for pedagogical documentation of children's learning

Knowledgeable on the pedagogical practices as they relate to Early Learning and Child Development and understands the Ministry of Education guidelines and curriculum;

Understand and comply with all regulatory items as per the Child Care and Early Years Act, Ministry of Education, and others;

Must be familiar with the developmental needs of children ranging from ages 3.8 years to 12 years

Assist with children's meals and snacks including set up and clean up;

Plan, organize and lead activities for children 3.8 years to 12 years of age to meet the developmental needs of children;

Ensure the health and safety of the children is maintained at all times;

Liaise with parents and community contacts;






Qualifications :







Degree or Diploma in Early Childhood Education

A member in good standing of the College of Early Childhood Educators

18 years of age or older

Current Standard First Aid and Infant Child CPR-C & AED certification (Level C)

Current and clear Criminal Reference and Vulnerable Sector Check

Current health assessment and immunization, in accordance with local Public Health guidelines.

Strong interpersonal, and relationship building skills; ability to establish rapport with children, families, staff/volunteers, and community partners

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

Working Computer knowledge






Computer skills and knowledge will be considered an asset.
