Job Description

Matrix Labour Leasing is currently looking to hire an Earthworks Coordinator for a long-term, permanent role to build the Springbank Off-Stream Reservoir, 15 km west of Calgary. The Springbank Off-Stream Reservoir will provide flood protection along the Elbow River in Calgary and other downstream communities.

Role & Responsibilities:

• Assist the Project Manager as the right-hand man in managing a portion of the project construction, such as a section, work area, or work zone.
• Plan the work in coordination with the site superintendent and develop accordingly a 3-week operational look ahead schedule.
• Order all material equipment as required by either the Superintendent or Project Manager ahead of time in order to ensure the correct progress of the scheduled work.
• Enhance coordination between disciplines and work zones.
• Make sure the team or the subcontractors are working with the latest approved documents.
• Monitor and alert on the progress of the works, as well as any deviations observed during construction work.
• Propose corrective actions and implements them once validated by the manager.
• Continuously demonstrate, through actions, full involvement in QHSE issues (participating in QHSE meetings and QHSE programs, motivating the personnel, and ensuring that staff follows the QHSE policies).
• Ensure compliance of the works with the safety recommendations and the Health & Safety and the Environment Plan.
• Secure the progress of the work of subcontractor working under the direction and alerting on subcontractor schedule delay.
• Attend morning tailgate/pre-start meetings and other construction meetings as required.
• Develop work construction procedures and method statements, and work sequencing.
• Participate in the details of the operating procedures, coordination meetings, schedules, and other project construction meetings.
• Submit documents constituting feedback relating to the works, in particular, the daily reports.
• Check regularly the compliance with the protective measures defined by the Environment Manager.

Requirements & Preferred Experience:

• Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• Experience in the construction industry, preferably on large infrastructure projects.
