Job Summary

Create, organize, plan and provide quality childcare programming for our preschool nature program that supports and promotes the wellbeing of each child. Guide, respect and reflect the needs of children, families and the community.

The Program Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Arbutus Grove Nature Program and will ensure that the critical success factors of the program are always attended to - financial, staffing, enrollment and facility. The program staff report to the Program Manager, and the Program Manager reports to the Executive-Director.

This program is for preschool aged children (3- & 4-year-olds) and operates Monday to Friday from 9:15am - 2:30pm. The Nature program follows the SD 61 Frank Hobbs school schedule and will be closed during Winter break, Spring Break, Summer and Pro-D days.

Salary:

$29.00 - $32.00 per hour depending on certification and experience; plus $6 per hour Wage Enhancement for ECE

Hours of work:

Full Time - 35 hours a week, Monday to Friday (8:30am - 4pm); 10.5 months per year (mid-August to end of June)

Qualifications

Valid License to Practice as an Early Childhood Educator

Clean criminal record check

Standard Child Emergency First Aid with CPR C

2 years' experience working in nature based program for children

Demonstrated teamwork, leadership and supervisory skills

Excellent organization and administrative skills, attention to detail essential

Ability to sustain attention to multiple situations

Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills

Ability to work independently and with initiative

Ability to establish and maintain positive, effective relationships with children, staff, families, Director and school personnel

Strong understanding of BC Child Care Licensing Regulations and Early Learning Framework

Proficient computer skills - Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, Outlook, Google docs, etc

Operation, coordination, and supervision of licensed nature childcare program, including staff, families, outside agencies and Island Health Licensing Take on role of Nature program leader, including direct supervision and program implementation Be alert and responsive to each child's physical, emotional, and social needs and provide direct supervision of children as required Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate performance of program staff and volunteers Create and maintain a healthy, safe and inviting environment Complete full enrollment procedures including attending to wait pool; establishing communication with interested families; ensure registration forms and payments complete, etc Comply with all financial responsibilities Attend at all health and safety practices Other duties as required by the Board of Directors & Executive Director
