North Vancouver Recreation & Culture (NVRC) is dedicated to building healthy individuals, families, and communities. We offer a wide range of recreation and cultural programs and services to residents of all ages and abilities. ABOUT YOU
You are a team player committed to community. You will plan and instruct developmentally appropriate music classes and dynamic lesson plans. You will be working in a creative environment utilizing your leadership and people skills while maintaining a safe environment to engage families in music. You are an excellent communicator with a positive, energetic and enthusiastic attitude.

SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • In-depth knowledge of music and movement (rhythm, percussion, singing, dance)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong organizational and supervisory skills
  • Proven ability to create and implement lesson plans
  • Ability to build a rapport with students, parents of students, and staff
  • Some knowledge of community recreation principles and practices
  • Ability to be flexible in a dynamic environment
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Candidates must have formal music training and a minimum of 2 years teaching experience.

All instructors working with children must have a current Emergency First Aid certificate and HIGH FIVE: Principles of Healthy Child Development training (available online through BCRPA).

All candidates are required to submit a Police Information Check and must be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 as a condition of employment.

Hours may vary and instructors should be prepared to work days, evenings and/or weekends at any North Vancouver Recreation & Culture location.

HOURLY RATE: $24-34/hour based on training & experience, plus 4% in lieu of benefits
