EarlyON provides free, high-quality drop-in programs for families and their children 0-6 years old. EarlyON facilitates drop-in play, planned activities on-site, outings/trips off-site, and provides access to developmental resources, evaluations and referrals. The Coordinator works closely with families to promote healthy development, school readiness, and overall child and family well-being within a community-based, Indigenous-led environment.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Early Childhood Education (ECE) Diploma
Registered and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE)
Current Infant/Child/Adult CPR and First Aid (Level C)
Current Vulnerable Sector Police Check
Up-to-date immunizations, TB test, and physician's clearance (free of communicable disease)
Knowledge of relevant legislation and standards (Child Care and Early Years Act, Public Health, Early Years programs)
QCCN and Food Handlers certification considered an asset
Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel as required
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide a safe, caring, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for children
EarlyON Coordinator will foster/promote the safety and well-being of families and their children visiting the centre.
Plan and facilitate age-appropriate and developmentally appropriate activities
Observe, document, and track children's development using approved screening tools
Identify developmental concerns and make appropriate referrals to community resources
Communicate effectively and build trusting relationships with children, families, and caregivers
Support families by providing information, resources, and referrals
Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries at all times
Follow FENFC policies, procedures, and cultural teachings
Maintain clean, safe, and organized learning environments, including daily sanitation
Participate in staff meetings, training, professional development, and special events
Assist with program-related events, outings, and fundraising as required
Prepare required activity logs, attendance records, and reports in accordance with program and funder requirements
Perform other related duties as assigned by your Team Lead or Executive Director
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
Strong understanding of child development and early learning frameworks
Ability to observe, document, and assess developmental milestones
Knowledge of inclusive practices and behaviour guidance strategies
Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Excellent organization, time management, and attention to detail
Ability to maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical standards
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and basic reporting tools
