Reporting to the Manager of Children & Youth, acts as an integral member of the team to assist in the overall operations and day to day supervision of the drop-in child minding, and preschool reactional programs
Job Duties
The Early Learning Supervisor is responsible for the oversight of the day to day operations of Westside Recreation Centre's Drop in Childcare Service (0-12Y) as well as Preschool Recreation Programs (0-6Y) of age, direct supervision of supervisory and frontline staff, program management and customer relationships. This dynamic position works within the department of Children & Youth.
The portfolio includes the following direct reports: 2 year-round supervisory staff, plus 1-2 seasonal supervisory staff.
This position is responsible for:
Child skill development programs that are non-competitive, fun and engaging
Every program has a program design and desired outcomes
Programs and services meet budgetary requirements
Knowledge of community programs and identify the gaps to minimize duplication of programs
Creating an atmosphere where participation and interaction is positive
Ensure programs meet the organizational goals, policies, and safety standards of Westside Recreation
Promote open communication and works cooperatively and effectively as a team member and communicates and contributes information on a continuous basis
The Early Learning Supervisor is responsible for the following area's/services:
Preschool Recreational Programming (children and their families)
Drop-in Child Minding
Day Camps - PD days, Summer, Winter and Spring
Qualifications:
Current Alberta Approved First Aid training agency - CSA Standard Z1210-17 Intermediate First Aid
Early Childhood Educator - Level 3 required
Minimum 2 (two) years of supervisory experience required
Successful Valid Vulnerable Sector Search required
Post-secondary education in a related field
High 5 is considered an asset
Perfect Mind/Xplor Software knowledge is considered an asset

Ability to lift 20-25lbs on a daily basis
The successful candidate must hold high ethical standards as they are working with a vulnerable population and has access to confidential information
Employment Term:
This is a year-round, full-time position, reporting to the Manager of Children & Youth. This position will work approximately 37.5 hours/week Monday to Friday, evening and weekend work may be required.
