Position Overview:


The Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) is responsible for creating a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment where children can grow and thrive emotionally, socially, physically, and intellectually. The RECE will plan and implement age-appropriate curriculum aligned with the daycare's philosophy and standards while adhering to

Ministry of Education regulations and licensing requirements.



Key Responsibilities:



Program Planning & Implementation:



Develop and implement age-appropriate, engaging, and inclusive lesson plans that foster the holistic development of children. Programs influenced by Ontario's Pedagogy for the Early Years: How does learning Happen? Incorporate play-based learning, following the Early Learning Framework and/or Montessori or Reggio Emilia approaches as appropriate. Observe, document, and assess children's progress and milestones, adjusting the program to meet individual and group needs.

Childcare & Supervision:



Maintain a safe and healthy environment by supervising children at all times, both indoors and outdoors. Encourage positive social interactions and foster an inclusive environment that promotes self-regulation and problem-solving. Support children's self-help skills, including dressing, eating, and toileting, as needed. Well-aware with CCEYA policies and procedures

Health, Safety, & Compliance:



Follow all health and safety protocols, including daily cleaning and sanitization of toys, furniture, and learning materials. Adhere to licensing standards and regulations as outlined by the Ministry of Education and local health authorities. Administer first aid or emergency care when needed and complete incident reports promptly. Follow Toronto Public Health policies and procedures

Parent Communication & Engagement:



Establish and maintain strong communication with parents through daily updates, newsletters, and parent meetings. Discuss children's progress, achievements, and any concerns in a professional and supportive manner. Collaborate with parents to create individualized plans for children as needed. Conformable using LIlio app to communicate with parent regarding feedback, progress of the child.

Team Collaboration:



Work closely with other educators, assistants, and support staff to maintain a cohesive team environment. Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and workshops to continuously improve teaching practices. Provide mentorship and guidance to Early Childhood Assistants (ECAs) and volunteers as needed.

Observation and Documentation:



Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of attendance, incidents, and children's development. Ensure compliance with all documentation requirements, including individual child portfolios.

Qualifications & Skills:



Must be a Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE). Diploma or degree in Early Childhood Education from a recognized institution. Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification. Clear Vulnerable Sector Screening (police background check). Strong understanding of child development principles, play-based learning, and early childhood frameworks. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues. Well-verse with CCEYA Manual, ELECT, How Does Learning Happen? Ability to multitask, remain patient, and maintain professionalism in a dynamic environment.

Additional Assets:



Knowledge of Reggio Emilia, Montessori, or other early childhood education approaches. Second language (French) proficiency is an asset. Experience working with children with diverse needs or in an inclusive classroom setting.

Working Conditions:



Ability to lift and carry children or materials weighing up to 50 lbs. Work in indoor and outdoor environments in various weather conditions. Flexible hours may be required to accommodate the daycare's operational needs.
