Job Responsibilities - Educator (Kindergarten and School-Age Group)
At Nature Wanderers Childcare, we provide a nature-based, child-led learning environment that fosters exploration, resilience, and a strong connection to the outdoors. We are seeking a passionate and dedicated educator to support our kindergarten and school-aged children.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Planning & Implementation:
Develop and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate, nature-inspired activities that align with Alberta's Early Learning and Care Framework (FLIGHT) and support physical, emotional, and cognitive development.
Outdoor Learning Leadership:
Facilitate daily outdoor experiences in various weather conditions, ensuring children are safe, engaged, and supported in outdoor play and exploration.
Positive Guidance & Support:
Model respectful communication and guide children using positive behavior strategies that promote emotional regulation, social skills, and independence.
Supervision & Safety:
Ensure active supervision at all times, conduct regular headcounts, and support off-site trips with strong attention to safety protocols and group transitions.
Family Communication:
Build strong, respectful relationships with families through regular updates, open communication, and involvement in the children's learning journey.
Team Collaboration:
Work cooperatively with fellow educators, contribute to planning meetings, and support a collaborative, reflective team environment.
Documentation & Observation:
Observe and document children's learning and growth, contribute to portfolios, and assist with assessments and reporting as needed.
Professionalism & Continuous Growth:
Adhere to licensing regulations, Nature Wanderers Childcare policies, and participate in ongoing professional development and training opportunities.
Requirements
Education & Certification:
Minimum of
Child Development Assistant (Level 1)
certification;
Preference will be given to candidates with
Level 2 or Level 3
certification under Alberta Child Care Staff Certification.
Current
First Aid in Child Care
certification (or willingness to obtain prior to start date).
Clear
Criminal Record Check
with Vulnerable Sector Search (dated within the last 6 months).
Experience & Skills:
Experience working with
kindergarten and school-aged children
in a licensed child care or educational setting.
Demonstrated ability to
lead outdoor activities
in various weather conditions with confidence and enthusiasm.
Strong
communication and interpersonal skills
, with the ability to build relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
Ability to implement
positive behavior guidance
strategies and support children's emotional and social development.

Physically able to participate in
