This 3-year wrap around project seeks to improve opportunities for economically vulnerable families with young children to meet their basic needs and strengthen their financial stability by providing low-income parents/caregivers with individualized workforce skills training and employment assistance while concurrently providing their pre-school children with care and early child development activities. The Early Childhood Educator will be tasked with providing these early child development activities to the children connected with the project.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Provide attentive, nurturing care for children from birth to six years of age in a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate environment in relation to the project
Plan and implement a variety of activities that support the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children
Supervise children at all times to ensure their safety and well-being
Follow children's cues and interests to encourage exploration and learning through play
Create a welcoming, inclusive environment that respects and reflects the diverse backgrounds of children and their families
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe child-minding space, including setup, takedown, and sanitization of toys and materials
Ensure confidentiality of all children and families
Maintain professional and respectful communication with parents, caregivers, and colleagues
Follow all agency policies and procedures, including child care safety and supervision standards
Support transitions for children in and out of care, providing comfort and continuity
Observe and document children's behavior and development as required
Perform general administrative tasks related to the child-minding program
All other duties as assigned
MINIMUM SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Diploma relating to Early Childhood Education is required
Working knowledge of "How Does Learning Happen"
Knowledge and skill in developing age appropriate quality early learning activities and programs for children between the ages of birth to six years
Experience in facilitating programming or workshops in an early childhood setting is an asset
Excellent organizational, computer, communication, customer service and interpersonal skills
May be required to lift items no more then 20-25lbs and transport materials between locations or work
A positive and outgoing attitude with children, parents, caregivers, clients and staff
Valid First Aid Certificate
G Driver's license with a clean record, and ability to commute to Port Colborne and Welland
Clear current Criminal Reference Check with Vulnerable Sector Clearance
