We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Early Childhood Educator with a valid ECE Level-3 certification to join our team. This role is essential in fostering a nurturing and stimulating environment for young children, promoting their social, emotional, and cognitive development. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in early childhood education and demonstrate exceptional communication and organizational skills.
Duties
Design, plan, implement, and evaluate learning experiences / curriculum that align with FLIGHT's goals and dispositions. .
Make curriculum decisions based on children's interests, developmental needs, observations, routines, and environment.
Create a safe, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment that supports the diverse needs of all students.
Observe children's behavior, play, learning, development; identify strengths, needs, interests.
Ensure that space, materials, routines meet health, safety, and licensing regulations.
Maintain confidentiality, appropriate ratios, emergency procedures.
Keep up to date with required certifications (First Aid / CPR etc.).
Ensure compliance with policies, including Alberta childcare licensing, health regulations, record?keeping, staff qualifications etc.
Foster positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues through effective communication and collaboration.
Monitor and assess children's progress, providing feedback to parents and guardians on their development.
Support children with special needs or disabilities by adapting teaching methods and materials as necessary.
Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and any incidents that occur within the classroom.
Guide less experienced educators in implementing FLIGHT?based practices
Collaborate with other educators to create a cohesive educational experience for students.
Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge of early childhood education best practices.
Possibly manage supplies / budget in conjunction with supervisor.
Maintain up?to?date records: attendance, daily logs, developmental documentation, meal/snack records, health/incident reports.
Assist with scheduling or other administrative tasks.
Participate in staff meetings, training and reflective practice.
Reporting to supervisors; might provide input to policy or program improvements.
Requirements
ECE Level-3 certification
Copy of current vulnerable sector check and First Aid
Minimum 5 years of experience working with children in a licensed childcare setting that supports Alberta FLIGHT curriculum is essential .
Strong leadership abilities with the capacity to manage classroom dynamics effectively.
Excellent communication skills in both English and French are highly desirable.
Familiarity with special education practices and working with individuals with disabilities is a plus.
Proficient computer skills for lesson planning, record keeping, and communication purposes.
Strong organizational skills to manage classroom activities efficiently.
Time management skills to balance multiple responsibilities effectively.
