This position is full-time and will work 40 hours per week between the hours of 6:30am - 6pm, Monday through Friday. Flexibility of the successful applicant's personal schedule is required to ensure staff and area needs are met.
Reporting to the Program Director, the Early Childhood Educator will:
Provide general care for the children by assisting in the coordination and involvement in their daily routine and activities
Be responsible for keeping track of hours in an orderly manner
Formalize lesson plans weekly for upcoming instructional periods
Relate instructional objectives to curriculum standards and demonstrate effective decision-making concerning instructional goals.
Plan and implement activities to meet the physical, emotional, intellectual, and social needs of the children in the program
Use a variety of instructional materials such contextual, supplemental, teacher-constructed, teaching bulletin boards, audio-visual, hands-on, discovery and activity-based learning.
Maintain accurate and timely assessments and progress notes for all assigned students.
Meet with parents throughout the year to discuss child's progress.
Prepares and maintains the indoor and outdoor play areas for children's use, including checking toys and equipment to ensure safe functioning and performing various housekeeping and sanitizing duties as required
Participates in lunch, diapering, bathroom and toilet training duties and promotes healthy and independent practices
Actively participate in planning sessions and staff meetings to develop and implement appropriate developmental programs and activities for the children
Requirements
Early Childhood Educator - Level 2/3 Certification
Experience with Infants
Current Standard First Aid and Infant Child CPR
Current Criminal Check & Vulnerable Sector Screening
Montessori Teacher Assistant Certificate (preferred)
Ability to communicate with parents effectively and professionally
Experience with lesson planning and development
Ability to multi-task and function in an ever-changing environment
