About Pleasant Heights After School (PHAS)
Pleasant Heights After School has been helping Calgary children
play, learn, and grow
since 1976. As one of the first before- and after-school care providers in northwest Calgary, PHAS now serves over 200 children across three community-based locations.
Our programs combine
STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math)
learning with hands-on, play-based experiences that spark curiosity and confidence. Guided by Alberta's Flight framework, we create a warm, inclusive environment that helps children become strong, independent, life-long learners.
What We're Looking For
Alberta Early Childhood Educator Certification (Level 1, 2, or 3)
Standard Child Care First Aid & CPR Certification
Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Search
Degree, Diploma or Certification in Early Childhood Education or a recognized equivalent is considered an asset
Experience in a licensed childcare setting is preferred, and experience with school-aged children (5-12 years) is an asset
Positive attitude, teamwork, and genuine passion for working with kids

What You'll Do as an Early Childhood Educator Level 1:
Support early childhood educators in carrying out programs.
Engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs, playing games, supervising non-structured play, assisting with field trip supervision, and preparing crafts.
Utilize the Alberta Childcare Framework: Flight(training provided)
Prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for use.
Assist with proper eating and hygiene habits.
Maintain daycare equipment and assist in cleaning the spaces.
Attend staff meetings to discuss progress and concerns of children.
May assist early childhood educators or supervisors in keeping records.
What You'll Do as an Early Childhood Educator Level 2/3:
Develop, implement and carry out child-care programs.
Plan STEAM-focused programs.
Assess the abilities, interests, and needs of children and discuss progress or problems with parents and other staff members.
Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioral problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians, or supervisors.
Guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits.
Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children.
Provide guidance and mentorship to Level 1 educators to support program quality and team collaboration.
May supervise and coordinate activities of other early childhood educators and early childhood educator assistants.
Organized, empathetic, and proactive with a high attention to detail.
