Job Summary

Provide customer centred, inclusive quality child care in a safe, nurturing, developmental appropriate program for children.

Duties & Responsibilities


------------------------------


Ensures that all actions and activities are consistent with the CCEYA regulations, and maintains application of Health and Safety Standards. Plans and develops inquiry based learning under the leadership of the supervisor and ensures programming aligns with How does Learning Happen? and highlights child learning through documentation. Able to effectively use Authentic Assessment of children and understands the importance of documentation. Prepares, maintains, and supervises classroom and playground activities. Collaborates with Resource Consultants in regards to the planning and implementation of programs and activities for children with special needs. Communicates with supervisor and staff on pertinent information concerning children and their families. Listens, responds, and provides guidance to families, supply staff, students and volunteers in program planning, child care, and community resources. Utilizes service coordination with customers to ensure effective service delivery. Attends regular staff and team meetings Participates in student evaluations, parent/teacher interviews and prepares children's progress reports as required. Participates and supports centre with the Quality First Initiative. Performs housekeeping duties as required. Performs other duties as assigned.

Skills & Qualifications

Essential




Diploma in Early Childhood Education from a recognized community college. Registration with the College of Early Childhood Educators. Working knowledge of the Child Care and Early Years Act. Understanding of Family Centred Practice.



Preferred




Experience working with children with developmental delays. Knowledge of Assessment tools. French and/or additional languages. Computer literacy.

Travel between locations within Halton Region. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Standard first Aid certification including infant and child CPR The successful candidate will be made an offer of employment on condition that the Regional Municipality of Halton receives a current (obtained within the past six (6) months), original and acceptable Police Record Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Screen by the first day of employment.
