P.L.A.Y. Community Child Development Centre is a not-for-profit childcare centre based in the heart of Kensington in NW Calgary. We are looking for an early childhood educator who loves working in a mixed-age classroom and implementing a play-based curriculum to join our team.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

Collaborate with a team of educators to develop and implement a program that supports the care & learning of children in our classrooms;

Support the overall operations of the PLAY centre, with a specific focus on working with children in the classroom


Responsibilities:

Implement developmentally appropriate planning that supports the children to develop in all domains based on their interests and dispositions to learn Create a responsive environment by adapting the time, space and materials available to reflect the children as mighty learners Lead transition songs and activities to support children and educators move smoothly through their daily routine Maintain a clean and tidy classroom; including organizing teaching materials, regular cleaning and sanitizing, Communicate with other educators in a professional manner that builds teams and models our core values to the children Participate in annual P.L.A.Y. Spring Concert, Mothers/Father's Day events; Attend evening staff meetings and 4 PAID Professional Development Day Workshops; Develop relationships with the parent community through informal and formal meetings and conversations, as well as regular documentation through Himama Exhibit a pleasant/calm demeanour, practice and exemplify patience, warmth and kindness, understanding, self-confidence, humour towards management, staff, children and parents. Reports to the Executive Director or designate for other duties as required
Qualifications:

Minimum Level 1 Police Security Check Current First Aid and CPR Passion, desire and experience to continue working in the childcare field Motivated, flexible, take initiative, able to work and function within a team and be able to complete tasks unsupervised. Written and oral fluency in English
Compensation Details:

$16.00-$18.00 per hour + government wage top up Annual school year completion bonus 8 PAID Flex Days (can be used for sick time, or mental health breaks) Two weeks vacation + BONUS Christmas Closure paid time off 50/50 Employer-Employee Benefits - includes dental care, vision care, drug plans, massage and more!
