Country Casa Montessori Daycare is an award-winning childcare and private elementary academy located in Ballantrae, Stouffville. We are looking for a warm and nurturing Early Childhood (Daycare) Assistant to join our team.

The ideal candidate will work in a dynamic, collaborative, team environment. They have to be flexible and organized; possess excellent written and verbal communication skills; and the ability to effectively interact with young children, parents, teachers, and team members.

Responsibilities:

Support ECE teachers in carrying out programs.

The overarching goal is to enhance the classroom ratio and provide an inclusive environment through ongoing collaboration and communication.

Can work with children on an individual basis, to assist them in managing their behaviour and promoting self-esteem while gaining acceptance of their peers.

Ensure a safe, warm, caring and stimulating environment for children to strengthen self-esteem, independence and to nurture physical, cognitive, emotional, creative and social skills. Engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs, assisting teachers preparing daily activities. Always observe and monitor children. Assist with lunch/snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods. Assist with proper eating, dressing and toilet routines. Assist with housekeeping duties (including COVID protocols) and any other work related to the care and maintenance of the centre (i.e., washing toys, laundry etc.) Attend all meetings and workshops with the goal of increasing knowledge about the daycare. Establish good relationships with the parents and keep them well informed. Adhere to the rules of the centre as well as the requirements of legislative bodies.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

Minimum of 1 year experience working in a licensed Daycare setting Experience supervising and effectively interacting with children 12 months to 6 years old Ability to work effectively with children, young adults, and faculty members. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal ECE and Montessori Certification an Asset. Basic knowledge of child growth and development, instructional procedures and practices applicable to assignment, instructional goals and policies of the Montessori philosophy. Ability to multi-task and follow classroom routines and schedules Open-minded, teachable, driven and creative Current CPR/First A Level C certificate and Food Safety certificate Required health immunizations up to date Flexible working hours from 7 am to 6 pm Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record check deemed satisfactory to the company Reliable transportation (not accessible by public transit)

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: $17.50-20.00 plus hourly provincial wage enhancement if applicable. Compensation rages are increased for RECE candidates
