We are seeking an
Early Childhood Education Assistant (ECEA) Program Instructor
to teach and support students in our program. In this role, you will deliver curriculum aligned with BC early childhood education standards, model best practices in working with young children and families, and help learners develop the competencies required to work safely and effectively as Early Childhood Education Assistants in licensed childcare programs.

As an Early Childhood Education Assistant Instructor, you will:
Teach and mentor adult learners in our Early Childhood Education Assistant program.
Deliver engaging, outcomes?based lessons that prepare students for real?world work in early learning and care settings.
Inspire students through your own professional experience and passion for supporting children's growth and development.
Provide constructive feedback, coaching, and encouragement to help every learner succeed.
Contribute to a positive, respectful classroom environment--both in person and online (if applicable).

Key Responsibilities
Deliver classroom, lab, and (if applicable) online instruction in accordance with approved curriculum and learning outcomes.
Prepare learning activities, demonstrations, and assessments based on the learning plan that reflect current industry practice and regulatory expectations.
Support student learning through clear explanations, one?on?one help, review sessions, and timely, constructive feedback.
Assess and document student performance through quizzes, exams, assignments, and practical skills evaluations.
Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student progress in accordance with institutional and regulatory requirements.
Foster a respectful, inclusive, and professional learning environment that reflects the standards of the early childhood education profession.
Demonstrated interest in promoting educational programs to the community and early childhood education sector, and willingness to represent the college and the program at outreach and marketing events.
Other responsibilities may also include:
Participate in
curriculum enhancement
, including reviewing and updating course materials to keep content current with industry and regulatory changes.
Contribute to program meetings, quality?assurance activities, and institutional compliance requirements as needed.
Required Qualifications
You must meet
one
of the following options:
Option 1 - Credential + Experience
A
relevant post?secondary credential
in early childhood education or a closely related field (for example: ECE Certificate, ECE Diploma, degree in Early Childhood Education, or equivalent),
and
At least
2 years of recent, relevant occupational experience
working with young children in licensed child care, preschool, or other early learning settings.
OR
Option 2 - Extensive Occupational Experience
At least
10 years of full?time, relevant occupational experience
n early childhood education or a similar setting working with young children, with demonstrable skill and knowledge in the field.
In addition, candidates must:
Be legally entitled to work in Canada.
Be able to communicate clearly and professionally in English, both verbally and in writing.
Demonstrate the ability to teach, mentor, or supervise adults (this can be through formal teaching, staff training, precepting, or mentoring roles).
Be willing to participate in
ongoing professional development
activities to maintain teaching effectiveness and current industry knowledge, in line with regulatory expectations.
Preferred Skills and Assets
While not required, the following will be considered strong assets:
Previous
teaching, training, precepting, or mentorship experience
(e.g., supervising students, orienting new staff, leading in?services).
Experience with
curriculum design, course development, or assessment creation
and attention to detail in grading, documentation, and classroom management.
Demonstrated commitment to
equity, diversity, inclusion, and culturally safe practice
in education.
