Those looking for more information are invited to visit ourReporting to the Early Years Manager of Diversity and Inclusion, the purpose of this position is to provide leadership in inclusion to the early learning and child-care system to enhance the quality of experiences for children and families in all licensed early learning and child care centres. This is accomplished through mentorship and coaching practices grounded in inclusion principles designed to build on the strengths of educators and staff with the aim of strengthening early childhood pedagogy practices.Duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Complete program assessment and provide written documentation specific to individual program needs related to inclusion;
  • Support centre leadership with strategic planning exercises to enhance inclusion within centres;
  • Customize and deliver leadership development training based on identified needs;
  • Provide coaching related to inclusion in early childhood pedagogy to centre leadership;
  • Provide policy support to centre leadership, parents and boards regarding early childhood pedagogy with a focus on inclusion;
  • Encourage, support and model use of reflective practice techniques;
  • Provide recommendations on the development and delivery of curriculum and program enhancement related to inclusion practices;
  • Utilize professional and holistic style coaching with early childhood educators and staff to enhance early childhood pedagogical practices through the use of strengths based and reflective practice strategies;
  • Support development of professional development plans for staff through processes such as clarifying objectives and developing measurable goals;
  • Customize and deliver in-service training based on identified needs;
  • Provide feedback and support to educators as they implement inclusion practices;
  • Utilize individual and group coaching practices in the co-creation of inclusive practices identified in the annual Centre Action Plans;
  • Identify and facilitate professional learning opportunities related to inclusion;
  • Other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Applicants must have a degree in early childhood education, child study or related area of study in social sciences/education.
  • Extensive work experience in a licensed early childhood development program, i.e. Early Years Centre, Early Childhood Centre.
  • Must have, or be eligible to hold an Early Childhood Educator Certificate under the Early Learning and Child Care Act.
  • Considerable experience in developing childrenxe2x80x99s programs for infants to school age.
. * Extensive knowledge in child development, some experience and knowledge with interpreting legislation and applying this to operational work and decision making.
  • Considerable working knowledge of the challenges associated with infants to school age children with inclusive needs.
  • Proficiency in oral and written communication, facilitation skills, interpersonal relations, organizational abilities and team building skills are necessary.
  • Effective organizational, analytical, problem-solving and time-management skills, with a proven ability to problem solve.
  • Good interpersonal, presentation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Proficiency in computer use with experience in word processing, presentations, basic accounting practices, data base management, spreadsheets and email.
  • Excellent attendance record and acceptable Criminal Records Check and Vulnerable Sector Check.
  • Must have valid driverxe2x80x99s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
Other Qualifications:
  • Bilingualism would be an asset.
