Position Summary



Reporting to the Manager of Childcare and Family Resource Services, the Early Childhood Assistant (ECA) is responsible for ensuring the appropriate provision of services to enhance the quality of life and personal wellness for children and their families in an Early Childhood setting.

Job Responsibilities



Support the planning and facilitation of age-appropriate activities that promote children's development across various domains. Supervise children during play, rest, and mealtimes to ensure their safety and well-being. Support children in daily routines such as dressing, toileting, handwashing, and eating. Encourage positive interactions, cooperation, and inclusion among children. Prepare, clean, and organize program areas, toys, and materials. Observe and report on children's progress, behaviours, or concerns to the ECE Lead or Program Manager. Ensure compliance with daycare policies, health and safety standards, and licensing requirements. Participate in team meetings, trainings, and professional development as required. Provide care for the physical, social, and emotional needs of children in a safe and supportive environment. Foster and promote healthy and trusting relationships. Support cross-departmental collaboration, contribute with enthusiasm to WWCC initiatives, and embody the values of Warden Woods as part of our unique communities. Support housekeeping responsibilities, as required. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:



Early Childhood Assistant Diploma or provincially recognized equivalency Minimum of one year experience working with young children Knowledge of the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA), How Does Learning happen, and ELEC document considered an asset Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to build positive relationships with staff, children, and families. Current Standard First Aid and infant child CPR Successful completion of a Police Vulnerable Sector Check prior to start. Strong understanding of confidentiality protocols and ethical standards in childcare settings Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion, with an understanding od systemic barriers and experience working in an anti-oppressive, participant-centered environments. Must be legally entitled to work in Canada

Hours:

Up to 30 hours per week; Monday to Friday, 3 - 7-hour shifts on an as-needed basis.

Hourly Rate:

$22.58 (plus PWE of $2/hr)
